CHICAGO -- During his incredible breakout effort throughout the 2008 season, Carlos Quentin has made a name for himself as not just the American League home run leader but also a clutch hitter with a keen batting eye. Then, there's Quentin's intensity. It's the drive behind the All-Star's on-field success, that steely, fixed look in his eyes showing he's ready for each and every game. It's ...

Bold Predictions: Combat Evolved Edition
The 35th Street Review —
[Editor’s note: This was prepared before today’s news became public. Oh, irony!]
Three things to watch for as two likely playoff teams enter the Octagon this weekend:
The ressurection of White Sox offense. If Paul Konerko and Jim Thome continue to hit, the 3-6 of Carlos Quentin, Jim Thome, Jermaine Dye, and Konerko could be more than enough to put the Good Guys into serious contention (as opposed to the someone’s-got-to-win-those-thing contention they’re in now). Starting pitching will determine this team’s fate, but the bats are going to have their work cut out for them this weekend and through next Thursday. ...
Time To Hit The Panic Button
The White Sox Blog —
I've been scared before. Sure, Crede may or may not be out for awhile. Sure, Beatnick Swisher is back to his old self. Sure, John Danks is tired and Buehrle is turning into Vazquez. But all those problems have solutions, are temporary, are not new. What you didn’t see coming is Carlos Quentin. ...

weekend and could wash out the double-header with Baltimore and Oakland Saturday
(in addition to action in other parks). Sunday isn't an option for the Baltimore
games (the Ravens opener is the reason Saturday's twin-ball came in the first
place), so our cutesy plan to stream like crazy here might wash down the drain.
Make a couple of extra minutes if you can and be alert with those last-minute
choices.
If you have to set things up in advance, I'd assume they won't
play two in ...

Reports: Carlos Quentin out for season with fractured wrist
