How Awesome Would a Coaching Strike Be in Oakland?
The Legend of Cecilio Guante —
OK, so Lane Kiffin is out in Oakland which should be shocking to absolutely nobody. We said Al Davis was bats*&t crazy back in January. We were far from alone then, and even further now. Lane Kiffin is a good coach. If he were a player, you'd say he has great upside. And the Raiders are improving. But everyone else and there mother are going to be having all of those types of debates for weeks, so we'll abstain. Instead, we wanted to talk about something completely different. An idea that is so tantalizing we can barely ...
Raiders Fire Head Coach Lane Kiffin
Every Morning Quarterback —
... Raiders head coaching position has been a veritable revolving door for the past six seasons and the results aren’t pretty — an NFL-worst 20-64 record during that time. And Al Davis is ultimately responsible. He hired coach Kiffin and he took responsibility for making what he called “the wrong decision.” You just wonder how many more wrong decisions he’ll make before the Raiders can turn things around and “Just win, baby.”

Oakland Raiders Cornerback DeAngelo Hall San Diego Chargers 28 at Oakland Raiders 18 On the occasion of the most bizarre coach-firing press conference in NFL history , it's a good time to revisit the off-season free agency decisions made by the Oakland Raiders. There was the six-year, $55-million deal given to receiver Javon Walker (he of the four catches for 52 yards this season). Then, the seven-year, $50.5 million deal given to defensive lineman Tommy Kelly (2008 stats: 1 DUI arrest, 0 sacks). And finally, there was perhaps the least defensible contract, the seven-year, ...
Wednesday Notes: Lions Offense to Focus on Things That Work
Pride Of Detroit —
... As much as I dislike most of the things William Clay Ford has done to the Lions, there's no way he's as crazy as Al Davis. Davis fired Lane Kiffin yesterday and then called a press conference to basically detail all of the things he disliked about Kiffin. The reason for that is because Davis doesn't want to pay Kiffin the rest of his contract, and he is trying to make Kiffin look like the bad guy in all of this. He's certainly not doing a very good job; that's for sure. ...
The Trailblazers live up to their name…online.
Fear The Beard —
... ,” but I’m sure someone in Portland is. What else is there to do up there? I do, however, appreciate the Blazers’ embrace of a new media world where access and transparency are the names of the game. Fans can see right through gimmicky, superficial promotional campaigns (Are you listening Mr. Rowell?). Fans today want to be let in. They want to feel a part of the process. That’s why Al Davis’s overhead projector presentation at the Lane Kiffin firing was the best new media use of old media ever. Everyone got a little tour of Al Davis’s brain ...
