Chris Webber’s Legacy
Published 3/31/2008 by David Friedman at The Biz of Basketball :: Part of the Business of Sports Network
Chris Webber's 15 year NBA career ended on Wednesday when he officially announced his retirement. Webber, who finished with career regular season averages of 20.7 ppg, 9.8 rpg and 4.2 apg, participated in just nine games this season with the Golden State Warriors; his balky left knee simply would not allow him to continue playing. He averaged at least 20 ppg and 10 rpg in six different seasons and he would have finished his career as a 20 ppg-10 rpg player if not for the 70 games that he played for three different teams in 2006-07 and 2007-08. Perhaps this is what ESPN's Rick Carlisle was referring to when he said that Webber could have "orchestrated" his ...

Published 4/2/2008 by Maury Brown at The Biz of Basketball :: Part of the Business of Sports Network
Could Isiah Thomas be out the door with the Knicks? At the very least, he will no longer be president. Donnie Walsh, the longtime former president of the Indiana Pacers will be introduced today as part of the Knicks organization at 1pm today. As reported by the NY Times: Walsh will report directly to James L. Dolan, the Garden chairman, rather than Steve Mills, the Garden president. (Thomas reported to Mills, who recommended him for the job in 2003.) The person who gave the details was not authorized to speak about the deal since it had not yet been announced. In a major concession, Dolan also granted Walsh the ...

Blackhawks to Broadcast all 82 Games Next Season
Published 4/2/2008 by Administrator at The Biz of Hockey :: The Business of Sports Network
For those that are Chicago Blackhawks fans, you’re going to get to see all of next season’s schedule wire-to-wire on television. And, not only that, over-the-air broadcasts will be plentiful, as well. As reported by the Chicago Tribune: The deal will be particularly satisfying to hockey fans who don't have cable TV. Industry sources say that as many as 20 games will go to WGN-Ch. 9, which carried the Hawks in the 1960s and early '70s. The bulk will go to the Hawks' main partner, Comcast SportsNet, which televised 50 games this season, leaving about 30 unavailable to Chicago viewers. John McDonough is the former ...

Raiders pass rush

The Oakland Raiders have made numerous off-season additions and they don’t appear to be slowing down yet, even with being dangerously close to the salary cap.
