The $20,000 fine was for “going onto the field and directing profanities at a game official” with 1:36 remaining in the third quarter, according to the NFL. HASLETT FINED FOR VERBAL ABUSE OF OFFICIALS
ProFootballTalk.com — Even as Jim Haslett feels his shot at keeping the Rams’ coaching job beyond the 2008 season slipping through his hands via a five-game losing streak, it’s nevertheless important to exercise restraint. He failed in that regard during Week Eleven’s 35-16 loss to the 49ers, and now he’ll pay for it. Haslett has been fined $20,000 for entering the field and directing profanities at a game official , according  to Mike Sando of ESPN.com. Frankly, we assumed that coaches directed profanities at officials on a regular basis.  Maybe they’re only calling them overofficious jerks.
