The rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated
Published 4/30/2008 by Mazarin at ROFL Sports
There was a report coming out of The Daily News on its Web site Wednesday morning that Sean Avery was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital in cardiac arrest. They said he was unconscious and not breathing on the way to the hospital.
Apparently, this wasn’t a legit report and was probably stolen from the dreams of Martin Brodeur.
What is legit, however, is that TSN.ca reports that Avery suffered a lacerated spleen from a hit he took in last night’s loss against the Penguins. He ended up going to the hospital AFTER the game. Not during, like you baseball and basketball pussies. They found the injury ...
Talbot may have broken foot: Avery with lacerated spleen ??
Published 4/30/2008 by Tony Ferrante at The Confluence of the Three Rivers
A couple of unfortunate developments after last night’s Game Three at MSG:
It looks like Penguins’ checking center Max Talbot may have a broken foot, suffered after blocking a shot in last night’s game. Of course, the Penguins are staying mum on Talbot’s condition.
In a much more serious matter, Rangers’ agitator Sean Avery reportedly was unconscious and not breathing and taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center in New York in cardiac arrest. Let’s hope that Avery’s condition is not as serious as it appears. UPDATE 12:17pm: Per TSN, Avery has a lacerated spleen, ...

Avery will miss the remainder of the season. He was taken to the hospital after Game 3. A CT scan revealed the injury. As much as you might hate Avery, you don't like to see this happen to anyone. Hopefully he recovers completely.

NY Daily News reported Sean Avery went into cardiac arrest; now reports he suffered lacerated spleen instead
Published 4/30/2008 at Puck Daddy
UPDATE 12:40 P.M. EST: Just another day in the wacky world of hockey journalism. An hour after the NY Daily News reported that Sean Avery of the New York Rangers had gone into cardiac arrest and was rushed to the hospital this morning, TSN ran a piece saying it was actually for a lacerated spleen. The New York Rangers announced the same news on their Web site regarding Avery. The Daily News then altered its original story, taking out any references to his having stopped breathing or cardiac arrest. Soon after, the Globe and Mail got an official denial from ...

another quick thought on the sharks being down 0-3

Having this discussion with a buddy, and a bit more perspective on this:
If Pavelski doesn't blow a tire in game 2, is this an entirely different series? If the called-back goal last night early wasn't blown dead? we're down 0-3, and it could easily be 3-0 if four or five pieces of "bad karma" turn the other way, or a couple of posts go ...
