Ben Q. Rock +3I don't care one lick about hockey, but I think playing a game in Yankee Stadium would be pretty rad. However, the last event to take place in that historic stadium should be a Yankees baseball game, so the Rangers should look elsewhere. -
Cupster33 this year was in buffalo how about a game in the mid west for a change.

Rangers May Close Yankee Stadium

... “We’d love to do it,” said Rangers GM Glen Sather, who is always up for a new hockey adventure.
Obviously, the NHL feels the same way. The Yankees might figure to be a bit hesitant about having the final pro sporting event at the old Stadium be a hockey game. But sources familiar with the discussions insist that the Bombers’ brass is into it, with COO Lonn Trost serving as the Yankees’ point man in discussions with the NHL.

Final Game at Yankee Stadium Will Be...
Published 1/13/2008 by Eli at MLB Rumors
The NHL and Yankee representatives are working towards an agreement that will allow a hockey game to be played at Yankee Stadium next winter. But doesn't that mean that that will make it the last game ever played at the Yankee Stadium? However, it appears the COO Loon Trost is interested, and teams are lining up to play there. Personally, I would love to think the Yankees won the final game ever played there, not the New York Rangers, but it doesn't bother me like Yankee fans. I am sure some Yankee fans are Rangers fans as well, and might attend the game if it is played. I ...

... In quasi baseball-related news, the New York Rangers are in talks to play a regular season game outdoors at Yankee Stadium as soon as next winter. The Penguins and Sabres played the first outdoor NHL game this past New Year's Day at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Buffalo to rave reviews. It snowed for most of the game, and the third period had to be split into two ten-minute sections to allow for equitable allocation of the advantageous winds blowing in one direction. The NHL's Winter Classic was definitely that, and a number of teams have already stepped forward and offered to play ...

... The fallout from the NHL Winter Classic continues, with another two teams getting in line for a chance to host another regular season NHL game outdoors. Except this time we have a pair of clubs vying for a shot to host a game at the same stadium. Yesterday's New York Daily News reported that both the New York Rangers and their suburban rivals the New York Islanders have approached the New York Yankees about holding a game at Yankee Stadium -- an event which would be the venue's last moment in the spotlight before meeting the wrecking ball. ...

Conventional wisdom is that the NHL will announce the next installment of the Winter Classic at a moment of intense fan and media attention: The Stanley Cup Finals, the NHL Entry Draft or perhaps Chris Pronger's next suspension. The frontrunners have been clear for months, as the New York Rangers want a game at Yankee Stadium, while the Chicago Blackhawks would love to play at either Wrigley or Soldier Field. If the game is coming to the Bronx (average high temperature in January: 36 degrees), the NHL might have to drop ...
