With all the Japanese imports this year the Texas Rangers have decided to make a play for one themselves. The team is reportedly on the verge of signing Kazuo Fukumori to a two year deal.
The 31-year-old reliever is coming off a season in which he posted a 4.76 ERA while battling elbow problems.
Leave it to the Rangers to sign a player who pretty much sums up next season.

Per Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News, the Texas Rangers are close to reaching a preliminary agreement with free agent Japanese right-hander Kazuo Fukumori, a 31-year-old reliever who pitched for the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles last year.
A 6′0″, 175 pound hurler, Fukumori compiled a 4-2 record with a 4.75 ERA in 36 innings during an injury-shortened 2007 campaign.

According to Evan Grant , the Rangers are "on the verge" of signing Japanese reliever Kazuo Fukumori . It would be a two-year deal.
As many as 10 teams were said to be interested in Fukumori, including the Yankees, Nationals, Royals, and Red Sox. Ken Davidoff recently spoke to a scout who described Fukumori as "not bad."
