RATHMAN, BACK IN SAN FRAN
ProFootballTalk.com — A familiar name and face is returning to San Francisco. Per various media reports, former 49ers fullback Tom Rathman has accepted an offer to become the team’s new running backs coach. Rathman replaces Tony Nathan, whom new coach Mike Singletary fired. The team has not yet announced the move, reportedly because Rathman has not signed a contract.

Mining the Gold Rush — The Press Democrat is reporting that Tom Rathman has accepted the offer to become the Niners' new running backs coach. This is great. He fits exactly what Singletary has in mind and more importantly, he brings back a taste of the good ol' days to the organization. The important thing about this is that we have an experienced guy at a position that is so vital to the team's success.
