Izzy OUT as closer
Published 5/10/2008 by Mike (noreply@blogger.com) at Stan Musial's Stance
That's what I get for posting before finishing my morning round of sports websites. Here's a link to the story about it. Wow. My respect for Izzy just went through the roof. How many guys wouldn't have the guts to tell their manager, "Hey I need a break," instead going out there day after day with a hole in their bat, or their glove, or throwing meatballs? Looks like it's just a re-shuffle of responsibilities. No word on if there will be a call-up from AAA (Chris Perez?) yet. Stay tuned.

Chris Perez Could Close in St. Louis

It's possible that there could be a new closer in St. Louis come next week following Jason Isringhausen blowing another save last night, and as he put it "[P]itched like a second grader." With a meeting today with members of the Cardinal brain trust it seems possible that minor leaguer Chris Perez will be called up and become the Cardinals closer for the time being.
