Really. In 2000, A-Rod's last season in Seattle, the Mariners finished a solid 91-71. Then, in 2001, their first season without ARod, they had their massive 116-46 season. Same with the Texas Rangers. In 2003, A-Rod's last season in Texas, the Rangers finished with a lackluster 71-91 record; then, in 2004, free of A-Rod, they turn it around and finish 89-73. ... attention they deserve. And, of course, when they're both playing out of their minds, it becomes even more difficult. (Not that I would advise any parents out there to ignore whatever child isn't performing well but hell, what do I know? I'm not a real parent.) ... a hardworker, and always struck me as a stand-up guy. Mike Lowell still has yet to file for free agency- which shouldn't make anyone relax about his status, but definitely is a positive sign that he's really working through options with the Sox first before going on to test the broader market. Some Lowell fans have built on the grassroots campaign that started with the "Keep Mike Lowell" and "Don't Sign A-Rod" chants I heard while I was at the celebrations in Denver, and started the Lowell Yes / A-Rod No website.
