New Red Sox Logo to Feature More Hanging Sox; Old-School Blue-Grey Road Unis Too
FanHouse —
by Will Brinson Filed under: Red Sox, MLB Biz, MLB Fans, MLB Media Watch, MLB RumorsThe Red Sox are unveiling a brand new logo. Well, kind of -- they're actually rolling back the clock to create a different look than most fans are used to. The problems is that new uniforms and new logos are always nice in principle, but can oftentimes fail miserably (hellloooooo, Minnesota Timberwolves). However, based simply on what I've heard and read around the webs, this Sox uni change sounds pretty cool. The club will also go with the "Hanging Sox" as the new primary logo, and it will be displayed on new caps that the ...

The Joy of Sox —
Ian Browne, MLB: The Red Sox will have a new look to them going forward, particularly on the road. At a news conference on Thursday night in Boston, the tradition-laden franchise unveiled new primary and alternate road jerseys for 2009. The club will also go with the "Hanging Sox" as the new primary logo, and it will be displayed on new caps that the Red Sox will wear with their alternate jerseys at home and on the road. For long-time fans, the new road jersey will be a trip down ...
The new uniforms are in, but the jury is still out
LEEInks —
The new Red Sox uniforms are being called “retro roadies” by the folks over on Yawkey Way. Does that not sound like a fantastic cover band or what? Or perhaps a wedding band? Regardless, the uniforms are causing quite a stir among hardcore members of Red Sox Nation. Here are some of the early returns on the “retro roadies”:
Ladies and gentlemen, prepare to have a heart attack.
The uniforms look like they came out of school uniform catalog

Their actually "Red Socks" now
The Rays Party —
The Baltimore Orioles and now the Boston Red Sox have changed their logos and uniforms for the 2009 season. You would think they both changed right after the Rays completely revamped theirs last year and had great success. But these designs must be sent into MLB during the early part of the season to take effect the next year, so no stealing of ideas here. The articles for the Red Sox unveiling and the Orioles. There seems to be a movement by Major League teams to wear retro unis during certain nights, which the Toronto Blue Jays did last season. And if you think the Red Sox's change to the "hanging socks" logo is bad, be thankful they didn't go back to this. ...
Red Sox reportedly express interest in Kawakami
Sox and Pinstripes | Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees – The Greatest Rivalry in Baseball —
With three of the game's best starters (Josh Beckett, Jon Lester and Daisuke Matsuzaka), and a core of promising young arms (anchored by Justin Masterson, Clay Buchholz and Michael Bowden), the Boston Red Sox do not need to sign a high-profile starting pitcher in free agency. They could use a reliable No. 4 starter, though. As expected, the Red Sox have expressed initial interest in Japanese ...
What do the Yankees and the country of Tonga have in common?
LEEInks —
The New York Yankees have already committed $243.5 million to C.C. Sabathia and A.J. Burnett this offseason. That is roughly the gross domestic product (the market value of all final goods and services from a nation in a given year) of Tonga, a small nation in the South Pacific. This raises a couple of questions:
Will entire Yankees rotation switch to initials in 2009? (C.C., A.J., etc)
Could NY’s off season spend reach a half a billion dollars when it’s all said and done? (the recent bid for Mark Teixeira’s services was $160 million.)
Are the Bombers immune to the recession?
Haven’t we ...
