Dusty on Votto, Dunn and aggressiveness
Published 3/6/2008 at BBTF's Baseball Primer Newsblog
Dusty on Votto, Dunn and aggressiveness Reality apparently has an anti-Baker bias. Does the aggressive stuff go for Adam Dunn, too? “Like I said, I don’t like called third strikes. Dunn’s not a kid. He’s not old, but he ain’t a kid. I bet you he gets better. He’s from Texas, right? There’s not a cow in Texas if he don’t get better.” [...] On Votto: “He needs to swing some more. I talked to him about that. Strikeouts aren’t the only criteria. I’d like to see him more aggressive.” “A lot of this on-base percentage is taking away the aggressiveness of some young kids. Most ...

... - Dusty Baker is being Dusty Baker in Cincinnati. "A lot of this on-base percentage is taking away the aggressiveness of some young kids," he said. Gotta love it when a coach bashes OBP. Dusty, of course, made the "clogging up the bases" comment in Chicago. He's laughable. What will Cincy fans think in July when all of their pitchers' arms are blown out and Dusty is chastising his players for taking walks... ...
