S-Dot Taylor was shot in his Miami home late last night. The severity of the injury is in question, but it sounds like he’s in extremely critical condition after a gunshot wound to the groin. It’s being reported that the shooting happened during a burglary gone wrong. Either way, this is awful news and our thoughts are with the Boom King and his loved ones. We’ll keep updating this space as we learn more.

Taylor in a coma?

... unconscious, you are essentially sleeping/out of it, but if one uses extreme measures (shaking, pain, etc) you can wake the patient. In a coma, you might make the body flinch, but you aren’t really going to get much of a response. Obviously, the doctors aren’t going around poking Sean just to wake him up so the difference is mostly semantic at this point. In either situation, the body has shut down in order to heal and Taylor lost an extreme amount of blood according to all sources.  The Miami Herald seems to have the best info given their geographic head start. Sean Taylor has become, by all accounts, a much more mature, responsible adult since the birth of his daughter over a year ago. He hasn’t been in trouble with the law in over two years and has become a leader on and off the field for the Skins. Everyone around him seems to genuinely respect the Boom King. In fact, Gregg Williams had to fight tears today after saying that he loves Sean like one of his own. Of course, Michael Wilbon wouldn’t know any of this.
