Doug Collins “Willing to Pay the Price”…for the Bulls
Published 5/29/2008 by Black Jesus Disciples at AZ Sports Hub - Arizona's Destination for Sports - Blogs - Podcasts - Forums
I always find it fascinating when public figures talk out of both sides of their mouth or go back on their word. The latest example is former Bulls, Pistons and Wizards coach, Doug Collins. It seems he'll be taking over the helm for the Chicago Bulls next neason. This news comes just three weeks after he explained to ESPN's Marc Stein in regards to the Suns job: "Steve has not talked to me, but I have no desire to do that. I consider it a compliment when people mention me, but I just love my life now. The work that has to be done ...

Doug Collins Rumored To Be Returning To Chicago As Bulls New Head Coach
Published 5/29/2008 at FanIQ Blog
Well that's an interesting curveball. I would have put the chances of the Bulls hiring a former coach at worse odds than the Chicago's chances of winning the lottery. Apparently, anything is possible this offseason. Nothing is official, but the Daily Herald and Sun-Times are both reporting the deal is nearly done. Collins originally coached the Bulls from 1986-1989, taking the franchise to its best record in 15 years with 50 wins during the 87-88 season. In 1989, with just a little help from Michael Jordan, the Bulls reached ...

Note to Suns: Scratch Collins off your list

Bulls hire Doug Collins
Published 5/29/2008 by Rickhouse at Tremendous Upside Potential
... Um…okay? I’m not too sure what to think here. I’m definitely surprised though. I really thought the job would go to one of the 10,000 unproven assistants Paxson has interviewed since D’Antoni took the Knicks offer. The best part of the deal seems to be that one of the young guys Pax interviewed will be named Collins’ top assistant. At first, that seemed great because since Collins coached MJ 20 years ago, he’s got to be a pretty old guy, right? Only 56. I thought he was for sure in his 60s. So there’s that. Truthfully, coaching in the NBA is overrated. ...

Report: TNT's Collins running with Bulls
Published 5/29/2008 by Howard Burns at SPORTS COUCH POTATO
... TNT hoops analyst Doug Collins appears to have had a change of heart. The three-time NBA head coach and former star guard had been insisting he had no desire to go back to the bench, but the Chicago Sun-Times is quoting a source today who says he will be named the next head man of the Chicago Bulls "sooner rather than later." ...

As The Coaching Carousel Turns
Published 5/29/2008 by Hoffman at ballerblogger.com
Chicago Bulls Doug Collins will become the next Bulls head coach, according to a source. I think this is a great move for the Bulls. After a promising 2006-2007 season, Chicago was doomed from the start of this year because of contract issues and trade rumors. Collins’ basketball intelligence is unquestioned. He’s a demanding coach who enjoys imparting his knowledge upon young players. Which young player (Beasley or Rose) will be Chicago’s cornerstone is still in question. With Boston and Detroit’s ...

Collins back in running for Suns job, Del Negro considered in Chicago?
Published 6/6/2008 by Greg Esposito at AZ Sports Hub - Arizona's Destination for Sports - Blogs - Podcasts - Forums
File this under the “just thinking out loud category” but could the Suns be waiting till late next week to name their head coach for a specific reason? Remember all the noise made about Doug Collins taking the Bulls job last week? Well Collins has removed himself from consideration for the Bulls job today: “I gave him a few days and then he had the issues he had to deal with Ozzie [Guillen] and Kenny Williams. I knew he was into that stuff. I just called him today and said, `I just want to take this ...
