As part of the latest collective-bargaining agreement with the NHL, the players have the right to opt out of the current CBA, or vote to extend it. For fans of the NHL, it appears labor peace will be remain in place as the NHLPA will vote in favor the extension. As reported by Liz Mullen of the SportsBusiness Journal: Sources said an announcement of the players’ decision may be made the week of the NHL All-Star Game, set for Jan. 25 in Montreal. NHLPA spokesman Jonathan Weatherdon said in an e-mail that players would vote on the issue in mid- to late January. The NBA D-League today granted a game protest filed by the Utah Flash after its 104-102 loss to the Colorado 14ers on Dec. 26 at Broomfield Event Center, which will result in the replay of the final 25.2 seconds of the game with the scored tied at 102. The replay will occur prior to the next scheduled game between the two teams – on April 10, 2009 at McKay Event Center in Orem, Utah.
