DeAngelo Hall, Raiders Agree to Contract
Published 3/18/2008 by Michael David Smith at FanHouse
... The guaranteed money in the deal has not been reported. NFL contracts are often advertised as being bigger than they really are, as it's entirely possible that a large portion of the $70 million comes from a seventh year of the contract that won't actually be played, or from clauses that won't actually be triggered. Hall most likely won't actually get $70 million. ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that Hall will get slightly less than the six-year, $57 million deal with $20 million guaranteed that ...

As the Oakland Raiders and the Atlanta Falcons continue to work toward a deal that will send cornerback DeAngelo Hall to the Bay Area, ESPN.com’s Chris Mortensen reports that Hall’s contract will be worth $70 million over seven years . Other details aren’t yet known — such as, for example, whether the final year is fueled by funny money aimed at driving the perceived average up to $10 million per year.  The contract signed in 2007 by cornerback Nate Clements widely was (and still is) reported as being worth $80 million over eight years.  But as our pal Howard Balzer learned at ...
