Rich Chvotkin Believes Wallace Got Fouled Rich Chvotkin's 17-note "Hoyas Win" blast from last year's win over Vanderbilt was no doubt magisterial, and yet "Hoyas Win" has become fairly well expected by this point. Monday's last-second win over Villanova, though, offered something a bit different. You might need to watch this more than once to get accustomed to the split-screen view and thus ... [link]

(The Day) LSU’s speedy Demetrius Byrd nearly won a race against a guy on a bicycle. (Busted Coverage) Yes, statistically, Michael Beasley is having a better freshman season than Kevin Durant did. Not Sure, But Wallace May Have Been Fouled

... completely ruined an otherwise classic (note: overstatement) Big East contest by calling a foul with 0.1 seconds left, about 200 yards from the basket. We all felt cheated. It sucked. What a horrible way to end a game, right? Rich Chvotkin, who calls the Hoyas' games old-school radio style, probably didn't feel that way: Sean McDonough, on the other hand, was not as pleased with the call. ... in the playoffs). Then there's that group of fans who are unabashed in their irrational, drank all the Kool-Aid and more, disgusting homerism. You know who they are. Their teams NEVER commit fouls, only lose because of bad luck, and aren't willing to admit when superstars have blatantly cheated the game. Take a listen (and watch) to Rich Chvotkin's call of that Monday night finish to Georgetown-Villanova, and you decide which category he fits into. Thanks to DC Sports Bog for the good laugh.

This is radio play-by-play man Rich Chvotkin calling the last few seconds of the miscarriage of justice that was the Georgetown/Villanova game. In case the video leaves it unclear, Chvotkin is the Hoyas play-by-play guy, not 'Nova's. With big thanks to the always-wonderful DC Sports Bog: I'm sorry, sir, what was that you were saying about someone getting fouled? Would you mind repeating that? Hysterical. I've never heard Mr. Chvotkin call a game myself, but he ...

Yes, But Do You Believe He Get Fouled?

... Basketball, Big East Basketball, NCAA Basketball Video, Washington, DC FanHouse's Charles Rich did not believe Jonathan Wallace got fouled. A fair reading of the play, to be sure, but Chas was certainly less passionate than Hoya radio announcer Rich Chvotkin. Is he a homer? Absolutely. Is it a debatable call? You bet your booties. Does any of that make it a less enjoyable call? Nope. (H/T D.C. Sports Bog)   Permalink | Email this ...

... UAB, UConn beating South Florida at the buzzer and Xavier squeaking by Charlotte, but, for all intents and purposes, Georgetown is VERY lucky to not have a home L to Villanova on its resume. Let's take another look at that absolutely awful foul call 70 feet from the basketball with under a second left that got the Hoyas the win, complete with play-by-play from clinically insane announcer Rich Chvotkin, who I'm going to assume is loosely affiliated with Georgetown University. ...
