Corky Simpson would like his Rickey Henderson vote back
Home Run Derby — Two days ago, we told you about Corky Simpson, the retired BBWAA writer who didn’t vote for Rickey Henderson on his 2009 Hall of Fame Ballot. After Rob Neyer of ESPN, Sports Illustrated’s Extra Mustard, the mighty Deadspin, and a whole slew of bloggers who picked up our lead in questioning Simpson’s glaring omission of MLB’s all-time steals leader from his 2008 Ballot and created an online lynch mob … Well, Corky wants to say that if he could do it again … he’d vote for Rickey. Simpson recanted to the Tucson Citizen (registration required) … ...

Corky Screws Up a Ballot
Bugs & Cranks — I generally think that dissecting each voter’s Hall of Fame ballot is an intensely boring and pointless enterprise, but it’s not often you come across a ballot as zany as that of the Green Valley News & Sun’s Corky Simpson. Let’s see here, greatest leadoff hitter of ...

The Big Lead — Rickey Thinks Rickey … : Writer Corky Simpson, who will forever be known as the guy who left Rickey Henderson off his Hall of Fame ballot, regrets the error. If you thought we were harsh, you should have seen what ESPN’s Rob Neyer followed with. (Tucson Citizen via Homer Derby)

insider.espn.go.com 11/21/2008 — I'm biased toward R. Ramirez because I watched him in Colorado, and Nunez's numbers always looked pretty good when I glanced at the box scores, which I know isn't exactly scientific. But is it really better to have two mediocre position players? ...
