Rockets agree to send pick, Greene, Jackson to Kings for Artest
NBA front-office sources confirmed to ESPN.com that Artest will be dealt to the Rockets in exchange for Houston's first-round draft pick in 2009, ex-King Bobby Jackson (who arrives with a $6.1 million expiring contract) and the draft rights to Donte Greene.

Artest traded to the Rockets
Rip City Project | A Portland Trailblazers blog — ... in a playoff series. So much for the Lakers trading Lamar Odom for Artest. As for the Kings, they are clearly in rebuilding mode, but I wonder if they are putting too much stock in Donte Greene's Summer League performance. For the Blazers, O-Live forum-goers are already speculating about Battier. Does he fit, is he a need? I'd rather stick with Martell and Travis at the 3 spot, but what do you think? UPDATE: ESPN confirms that the mystery player in the deal is indeed Donte Greene. ...

Shoot
Mavs Moneyball — This is a move, that propels a team in the bottom half of the playoff picture, to one of the top 3 or 4 in the West.  It was the deal Dallas was supposed HAD to do become a contender.    Yahoo ESPN SactownRoyalty I am so angry right now, I could spit fire.  N41D broke it first, and summaries the trade the best... So Bobby Jackson's expiring contract, a pick, and presumably Donte Greene is enough value for you to trade Artest, but ...

Strange atmosphere, this planet Houston
Lakers Blog — ... . After much speculation as to where Artest would eventually land (a trade itself was a given), the Kings and Rockets agreed upon a deal , with ex-King Bobby Jackson, Rockets first round pick Donte Greene and a 2009 first rounder heading to Sacto. The deal won't become official until August 14th, as ...

Is Ron Artest a good fit in Houston??
Hail Mary Jane — Hmmm… So I’m still trying to decide if I like this Ron Artest deal that went down today. NBA front-office sources confirmed to ESPN.com that Artest will be dealt to the Rockets in exchange for Houston’s first-round draft pick in 2009, ex-King Bobby Jackson (who arrives with a $6.1 million expiring contract) and the draft rights to Donte Greene. The Kings will also receive more than $1 million in cash, according to The Houston Chronicle, but the deal can’t be announced before Aug. ...

Ron Artest traded to the Houston Rockets!
The Hoop Doctors — ... So let the laughter out. That’s right let out a good hearty laugh. I was in the middle of drinking a five alive when I read the news. Liquid came out of my nose. It hurt. Are you kidding me? In yet another ridiculous and unbelievably lopsided trade, the Sacramento Kings decided to move defensive specialist Ron Artest to the Houston Rockets for a solid bench player, the draft rights to Donte Greene, and a cool million in cash. Now just so I don’t sound too judgemental here, it should be noted that Bobby Jackson has a $6 million dollar salary that is ...

Bobby Jackson Goes Back to the Only Team That Ever Thought He Was Good; Adelman and Artest Elope
Upside and Motor — Artest is heading South, trading purple for red, and never has to play with Mikki Moore again. Life is good. I'm still not quite sure what the Kings saw in this deal that the rest of us don't. An expiring contract (Jackson) is good and all, but Artest would've expired anyway. Greene is talented, but at the moment he's a summer league wonder and a huuuge question mark. The first round pick is going to be in the low to mid 20's; I'm sure the Kings could've just bought a pick like this one if they were desperate. In the meantime, it throws the ...

Rockets Steal Artest From Kings
RedsArmy.com - The Voice Of Celtics Fans — ... Crazy Ron-Ron is taking his act to the Houston Rockets. The Kings agreed to trade away their volatile yet talented swingman for Donte Greene (the 28th pick in this year’s draft), Bobby Jackson and a first round pick in 2009. Wait, there must be more. Nope. This ranks right up there with the Pau Gasol heist. Since Houston has a solid core (55-27 last season) and only has to pay Artest $7 million for one year, they must feel ...

Donte Leave doesn't work in the NBA
The Orange Squeeze — ... As I read one of my regular web site this morning a story caught my eye. The Houston Rockets are about to trade away Donte Greene, well, not until he has been a month with them, since those are the NBA rules. But it seems that come August 14th the ex Orange forward will be moving from Houston to Sacramento, making it the third team that the rookie forward has been with and the season is months away! ...

Will Ron Artest Really Make Houston Legit?

Yao Ming Frightened By the Artest Trade
FanHouse — Filed under: Kings, RocketsTracy McGrady seemed completely ebullient when discussing Houston's trade for Ron Artest on Tuesday night. Via TrueHoop, Houston Chronicle columnist Fran Blinebury got some quotes from Rockets star Yao Ming, who seems quite a wee bit less joyous. "We worry about the new attitude to the team. We are adding talent to the team and we need that, but building team chemistry is important. This is not bad. I don't mean he is not welcome to Houston. But a new player always ...

Rumors and Free Agent Updates - Yao is Worried Edition
CELTICS GREEN ...a boston celtics blog. — ... NBA front-office sources are reporting that the Lakers were very disappointed not to land Artest. But, L.A. was reluctant to part with Lamar Odom and were even more reluctant to take Kenny Thomas along with Artest. Sacramento ultimately relented on its insistence that any team acquiring Artest take Kenny Thomas, as well, dropping that condition and agreeing to Houston's offer because the Kings are essentially coming away with two first-round picks for Artest. ...

Yao, Artest Are Gonna Be Friends
The Sporting Blog — The two biggest names in yesterday's not-quite-done blockbuster could not be happier. Artest is "going to dance with the stars," and T-Mac called the trade "what I have been waiting on for 11 years in my career." But there's been some consternation over Yao Ming's reaction, especially these quotes in the ...

NBA Teams Spending Big, Getting Better
The Biz of Basketball :: Part of the Business of Sports Network — In a flurry of deals over the last few days, several NBA teams have opened their checkbooks in order to strengthen their respective rosters.  On Tuesday, July 29, ESPN reported that the Houston Rockets sent Donte Green, Bobby Jackson, and a 2009 draft pick, along with a cool $1 million, to Sacramento in exchange for talented – and troubled – forward Ron Artest.  The deal won’t officially be consummated until August 14, as Green (a 2008 draft selection who finally signed on July 14) won’t be eligible to be traded until then.  The move teams Artest with Tracy McGrady and Yao ...

King Of Kings
Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician — Technically, this whole Artest to the Rockets deal could fall through between now and August 14th. In fact, technically, it hasn't actually happened yet. But don't tell that to Donte Greene's agent, cause as far as he's concerned, ...

Top 5 Moves of the Summer (...so far...)
All That Jazz — ... worst playoff performing franchises that regularly get in the playoffs in recent memory. In the 11 years from the 1997-1998 season to this last one (2007-2008) they have been outed in the first round 6 times. They didn't make the playoff at all the other 5 times. While T-Mac gets a lot of the blame for this, I really thing the issue is Yao Ming's inability to be a big game player. Now they get some help by adding Ron Artest for the low low price of Bobby Jackson and some garbage. ...

Apostrophe, or Acute Accent?
Sactown Royalty — Is it Donté Greene? Or Donte' Greene? misterbrister raises the question. The NBA goes with the é. Syracuse has used an apostrophe. ESPN remains agnostic. Donté/Donte' was born in Munich, and lived in Europe for the first three years of his life. That would hint toward the acute accent, though it is far from definitive. If it is, in fact, an acute accent, should we adopt its usage? If so, then we must provide equal diacritical ferver in Francisco García's name ... something the NBA does not offer but The ...

Petrino's Gone So Grady Jackson Is BackFanHouse
Grady Jackson isn't a great player, but he is a great example. Jackson was exhibit A of Bobby Petrino's stupidity. With the team lacking in defensive tackles, Petrino decided to cut Jackson in the middle of the 2007 season. Atlanta's run defense suffered without Jackson, but hey, Petrino needed to prove he was the boss. It ended up working out pretty well for Jackson--he latched on with the ...
