The Great Wall: Broken
Basketbawful —
Bad news for the Rockets. And I'm talking "You know, it's funny, these people, they go to sleep, they think everything's fine, everything's good, they wake up the next day and they're on fire!" bad. It turns out that Yao's broken foot isn't healing properly -- or at all actually -- which means the Great Wall will probably miss all of next season. Or maybe even (gulp!) forever. The Rockets and Yao's reps are frightened over his future, and the concern is the most base of all: Does Yao Ming ever play again? "The realization has hit them that this is grave," one NBA general manager ...
Here's hoping Yahoo is wrong about Yao Ming
The Dream Shake —
Mondays are bad enough...
Then I see this on Yahoo. Apparently Tracy McGrady has a better chance of suiting up for the Rockets before Yao Ming ever does again. To which I really have only one response. And Ned Flanders will say it's the loudest profanity he's ever heard.
Ugh. Why???? Why!??!?!?!
Is the doomsday rumor for real? I have no idea. But I can't say I'm optimistic about the chances of the report being wrong. The whole smoke/fire ...

Yao done for season and beyond?
This really blows. I hate seeing huge injuries to character guys.
Turns Out They Don’t Make 7’6’’ People for a Reason: Yao Ming Could Miss 2009-10 Season

Timing, as they say, is everything. Going into the start of the 2008-09 season, we here at GMTR were pretty damn low on Yao Ming. He was a 7’6’’ monster with a history of foot problems: the man had averaged a mere 53 games a season over the previous three ...
Fall of the (Yao) Ming Dynasty

Exactly how avid are Houston’s fans? Take a quick look at their forums when big news hits. Hot topics finish with more pages than the collected works of John Updike. It’s impossible to read all the reactions, but for something like this, you know from the start…
After re-aggravating a hairline fracture on the top of his left foot in Game 3 against the Lakers, Yao has rested the injury. But a bone scan last week revealed the bad news — the foot was not healing after two months of immobilization.
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports sees that bad news and dishes ...
Houston Rockets in shambles
MVN RSS —
Injuries have derailed one season after another for the Houston Rockets. If it wasn't Tracy McGrady out for the playoffs, it was Yao Ming. Or both. Now, after Houston had its best playoff performance since the Akeem Olajuwon days, arrives this absolutely crushing news ...
Falling Rockets
GO FOR 2 —
For some unknown reason, the Houston Rockets have decided to disclose that Yao Ming’s lingering foot injury is apparently worse than originally thought. A lot worse.
Apparently, Yao had three pins inserted into his foot about a year ago, but after the recent re-fracture of the foot it doesn’t appear to be healing. The Rockets are disclosing to other teams that they might be without Yao for much of next season, possibly even all 82 regular season games. However, experts are saying that there is a chance Yao Ming may never play basketball again. Just check out the X-RAY below (psych). ...
Is Yao Ming’s basketball career over?
N/A —
Is Yao Ming’s basketball career over? Ok, maybe we’re jumping the gun with that title, but there is some serious speculation going on today that it may be true (discuss).
There are reports that Yao’s foot injury is much more severe than initially thought, and even more so than what was reported last week. So much so that his professional career could be in jeopardy.
The 7-6 center from China missed last year’s playoffs because of an ill-timed foot injury. He has spent the last couple of months healing, but a report last week announced thay Yao’s foot wasn’t healing as expected and would need further ...
Yao-uch!
Writing the Pine —
Terrible news coming out of Houston today that Yao Ming may have possibly played his last game. It’s almost a foregone conclusion that the big man will miss all of next season because of the foot he broke against the Lakers, but will it end his career? Only time will tell but if we’ve seen the last of Yao, it’d be a damn shame. Not only is he one of the most talented big men in recent history, but he seems like one of the nicest guys in the NBA. He plays so proudly and so hard that I guess it took a toll on his health. I’m sure you guys remember him ...
