Myron Rolles to Oxford
SmackCaster SmackBlog —
... In what amounts to a no-brainer by a person with a special brain, Florida State DB Myron Rolle tells the New York Times he will be heading to Oxford to work on a master’s in medical anthropology. The Rhodes Scholar had to choose between Oxford and the NFL. He will be available for the 2010 Draft. ...

... Michael Bay is suing Myron Rolle for copyright infringement. Because the Florida State safety and Rhodes Scholar will bypass the NFL draft this year to attend Oxford University, where he pick up a master’s in medical anthropology, return to enter the NFL draft in 2010, finish his NFL career, then attend med school, and then open a clinic for the poor in the Bahamas before joining a super-secret elite government unit dedicated to studying and fighting alien terrorists. Only part of that is false, and thus the lawsuit from Bay, who swears this is a character ...

Florida State safety Myron Rolle , a likely first-day pick in the upcoming draft, has opted instead to accept a scholarship to Oxford University , the New York Times is reporting. Rolle informed the paper of his decision via text message. The scholarship is for one year, after which time Rolle will return from England and make himself available for the 2010 draft. ... master’s degree in medical anthropology at the prestigious and snooty English school. Of course, he graduated high school early, finished his FSU bachelor's in 2.5 years (he's already working on another master's there) and has junior eligibility, so technically, he's still coming out early and would enter the 2010 draft with his regular class. He'll just be the first player in history to ace the Wonderlic. So... how did your college career work out for you? Rolle Is Heading to Oxford, Not the N.F.L. [NY Times]

Myron Rolle Going Pro In Something Other Than Sports (UPDATE) [College Football]
Deadspin —
Florida State safety Myron Rolle has decided to forgo the NFL Draft and stay in school another year. The school just happens to be Oxford University. (That's a bit of an upgrade, I think.) As you no doubt recall, Rolle received a coveted Rhoades Scholarship back in November, but is also projected as a mid-second round draft pick. Yesterday, he announced that he will put the NFL on hold to go for a one-year master’s degree in medical anthropology at the prestigious and snooty English school. Of course, he graduated high school early, finished his FSU bachelor's in 2.5 years (he's already working on another master's there) and has junior ...
We Hardly Knew Ye: Myron Rolle, who fills your petty life and wasted talent with shame
Dr. Saturday —
Notable players going pro, or somewhere, before their time.
This is Myron Rolle in high school, in Princeton, NJ:
I'm not going to get all Thom Brennaman here about Rolle, because I've never met the guy, and Jeremy Schapp already put Brennaman to shame, anyway, with his "Outside the Lines" piece comparing Rolle to Deion Sanders, Einstein and Mother Teresa rolled into one (I'm assuming Schapp does not subscribe to the Christopher Hitchens view of Mother Teresa, although that would dramatically change the tone of that fluff piece). Rolle has been properly feted already.
But: After graduating ...

Mark Purdy, San Jose Mercury News: Stanford is too good for greasy. That's why Jim Harbaugh needs to come out of hiding and state his coaching intentions. Jessica Bliss, Tennessean: Former Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer, a featured speaker at the American Football Coaches Association's gathering in Nashville, said he's not bitter over his ouster. "It's easy to be mad. But thank goodness for the experiences I've had." Fulmer also said "I may coach again in the right place." Lance Zierlein, Houston Chronicle: Excellent talent assessment of some of the players who will ...
