... One interesting side story to the contract extensions of Terrance Newman and Marion Barber III is that, in order to make those happen easily, quarterback Tony Romo restructured his contract. Romo's a pretty nice guy, I think. But let's hold off on giving him the Purple Heart here. He simply agreed to turn his base salary into a signing bonus. Thus, he gets his money now, instead of later. What a sweetheart. Not looking at cap numbers, I was a bit shocked at the Newman contract, especially on the same day as Barber.
