Things are about to get even more interesting for the Lakers.
Ron Artest will be a Laker come July 8 (nothing can be finalized until then, just as a caution), And he comes at a very good price — three years of the mid-level exception. Or three for essentially $18 million. That is basically ...

Forget Trevor, we got Ron

... now. I would love to have him on my team. You might think that he hates Kobe and vice versa, but it couldn’t be further from the truth. When this news becomes official and Kobe responds, he’ll say all the right things about being disappointed by Ariza’s departure and losing a “younger brother”, but deep down inside you can be sure that Kobe Bryant loves this move.

Believe it or Not, LA Just Got More Interesting: Artest to the Lakers

It appears that Ron Artest has agreed to sign a three-year deal with the Lakers
Fantasy Implications: Apparently, Artest when all single white female on Kobe last year, expressing his desire to play with Black Mamba. If the man wanted it that bad, I’d expect Artest to be a good solider in the Kobe army, accepting his role on a stacked Lakers team. Artest was the number 1 option on the Rockets at times last season, while on the Lakers he’ll be – at best – option number 3. His minutes are also likely to see at least a small decline ...
'Net reaction: Artest and Ariza swap teams
Ball Don't Lie —
... Forum Blue & Gold: "Does anyone else have the feeling part of the Lakers looking at Artest was not wanting to deal with the public negotiations of Ariza agent David Lee? They put up with him in the Bynum case because there were no other options — young guys with Bynum’s potential are rare. But quality swingmen who want to be on a contender are more common. Lee tried to get the most for his client, but he negotiates in a very public way and the Lakers are a very private team (in terms of front office dealings)." ...

Was the Artest/Ariza swap good for the Lakers?
scoresreport.com 7/10/2009 —
Yes? Like the majority of Laker fans, I really liked Trevor Ariza. In his previous five NBA seasons of virtual anonymity, Ariza never seemed to fit into the chemistry with his teams. Chalk it up to inexperience or the adjustment from college to the pros. Enter the 2008-9 season, and Ariza ...
