Hot dunk indeed... though I'm not sure it's really about "Rajon dominating Rip." If anything, he posterized Maxiell.

Couldn't think of anything better at the time. Still, Rondo went coast-to-coast on Hamilton, and happened to finish on Maxiell.

I think Rajon Rondo looked like Tayshaun Prince, both in the coast-to-coast dunk, as well as flopping on the ground and pretending like he was hurt.

I'll admit Tay does it from time to time, but Rondo always manages to make the fall seem so life-threatening.  I think Rajon got the series sweep, with a dunk in each game followed by appearing in need of life support for 5 seconds until he magically heals.

If I out-ran Rip and dunked on J-Max, I'd require some life support as well.

Three-point stance
Chad Finn's Touching All The Bases — A couple of quicky thoughts in between naps . . . For the first time since Eli Manning got the ball back with 83 yards to go and 2:42 on the damn clock, I'm feeling good about the Patriots. Randy Moss returning obviously has a little something to do with that, and while I was bordering on full-scale panic as he hit the free-agent market, in retrospect you have to give kudos to both the Patriots' front office and Moss for how they handled the situation. The Patriots were careful not to offend the, um, "quirky" receiver, negotiating a long-term deal in good faith rather than franchising him. And Moss deserves praise for ...

Rajon Rondo's Monster Dunk in the Celtics' Win Over the Pistons
FanHouse — Filed under: Celtics, Pistons, Eastern, NBA Videos It pains me to post this, because I'm not a big fan of this current Celtics team, and I'm a huge fan of the Pistons. But this dunk by Rajon Rondo was absolutely monstrous, and as a fan of all things NBA, I feel it needs to be seen by as many people as possible. In case you don't have the League Pass and missed this one because ESPN would rather televise a college basketball game instead, here's a brief recap. The Pistons' flight to Boston was delayed by ...

Rajon Rondo Takes It To Max and Rip
JONES ON THE NBA — See, this is why I can't get any work done: I'm loving Rajon Rondo. Mark my words: Next season, Rondo will be considered the best pure point man in the eastern conference (So no, great combo guards such as Gilby Arenas and Chauncey Billups don't count). If he continues to improve ...

The Night Rajon Rondo Posed For His Poster
Can't Stop The Bleeding — So LeBron sank a shot from (nearly) half-court while putting up a half century against the hapless Knicks (with Stephon Marbury in attendance). The Nuggets scored 300 points against a Suns squad that continues to struggle with Shaq in the middle, and the Yao-less Rockets continued their improbable winning streak. But amongst all the other offerings from a glittering night in the Association, the above clip of Boston’s Rajon Rondo blowing past Detroit’s Rip Hamilton is the highlight that oughta be seared into your skull. Looks like someone’s not ready ...

Above The Rim: That’s Just Sick
Signal to Noise — (Thanks to the FanHouse for the tip to the video.) That Rajon Rondo dunk was likely the eye-dropping play as the Celtics sealed up a playoff spot with a win over the Pistons — a likely playoff match-up that we’ll all be dying to see. KG had 31 points, Rondo had ...

Celtics Clinch Playoff Spot With Authority
The Sporting Blog — By Chris Mottram Boston sports fans finally have something to celebrate: Their basketball team is in the postseason for the first time in two years. They clinched the spot with a 90-78 win over the Pistons, highlighted by Rajon Rondo posterizing Rip: In this morning's Wake-Up Call , Shanoff asks if Celtics fans should celebrate. Um, of course they should. They won 57 games the last two seasons combined, and already have 47 wins this year alone. Go crazy, folks. Then again, I'm a D.C. sports fan, so merely making it into the playoffs in any sport is cause for celebration. Boston fans have probably come to expect ...

Ballin’: Here Come the Nuggs
The Big Lead — Denver 126, Phoenix 113: If the Suns can’t win the second night of back-to-backs, what will happen in June? More shoddy transition defense from Phoenix, which also turned the ball over at an alarming rate (the Big Three had 15 of the 19). Melo had a beastly 31 points and 13 boards to pull the Nuggets one game within the 8th seed out West. Boston 90, Detroit 78: How ’bout that Rondo dunk? How ’bout KG’s season-high 31? How ’bout Kendrick Perkins taking a career-high 20 rebounds? Ray Allen shot just 1-for-9. Still don’t think Sam Cassell is necessary, but that’s ...

Rajon Rondo Takes It To Rip Hamilton, Receives Standing Ovation
FanIQ Blog — As annoying as Boston fans may be at times, you can never make the claim they aren't great fans. Rajon Rondo, playing his last game before Sam Cassell puts a dent into his PT, abused Rip Hamilton and hammered it home on Jason Maxiell. Celtics fans gave him a standing ovation. It wasn't Rondo's best game, but fine work by Bostonians. In other news, the Celtics already clinched a playoff berth and appear in good shape for home court advantage throughout.

Piston fall in Boston
Need4Sheed.com — The Celtics took the season series against the Pistons last night with a 90-78 win at home and securing a playoff birth. Detroit played this game from behind from the opening tip when Bostons went up 17-3 early. Detroit tied the score early in the fourth quarter, but Bostons went on a run to crush all hopes of pulling this one out. A game that started off Bostons way, that looked like it was going to go down to the wire, finished with a sold Celtic win. Key Points: The Celtics came to play, Detroit (excluding Sheed) didn't. You have to give it to Boston, they played a great game led by 31 points from KG. Kendrick Perkins 20 ...

Rajon Rondo's monster dunk over the Pistons
Ball Don't Lie — I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Sam Cassell probably couldn't throw this dunk down ... with or without Elliot Thomas' flying bike. Great dunk, but I have one bone to pick. Tommy, I know you're the ultimate homer and all -- but please, the referees didn't let Jason Maxiell "getaway" with a hard foul. Maxiell made a fair play on the ball, Rondo put himself out there, and the much lighter man hit the floor. It's called basketball. It happens. Thank you. (Video via Odenized, of course.)

Can Sam Cassel Do This?
Intentional Foul — For all you Boston fans waiting for Sam-I-Am’s premiere, consider what you already have in Rajon Rondo. This may very well be the play everyone remembers when they realized the Celtics were the Beast of the East. What time do the NBA Playoffs start? The Moment
perkisabeast.com Blog — You just had to be there. And truthfully, I wish every Celtics fan could have been in the house last night when this happened. Up until that point it looked like Detroit might be able to push us out of our game. Billups was starting to assert his will on Rajon Rondo. He was pushing him out of the way, getting to the line, and basically doing what Chauncey Billups does. The man’s a bulldog. Even if Pitino thought he was a hound. But then, out of nowhere, Rajon decided that simply he had had enough of that guy’s shit. It was as if Rondo had been listening ...

Rondo Rips Past Rip For Jam On Maxiell
Mind Rite Sports -- Quality, diverse sports coverage — It’s a little late — this dunk happened earlier in the week — but nevertheless the jam is memorable. Boston’s Rajon Rondo blows past Richard “Rip” Hamilton and does the nasty in the face of Jason Maxiell. Exhibit A through X: Rating on a scale of 1 to 10? 12. Little guys aren’t supposed to be able to dunk on people like Maxiell who have Minute Bol-type wingspans. Check out Rondo’s blog on Yardbarker ...

The NBA’s Top Seven Most Improved Players
Empty the Bench — Only one player each season is ultimately recognized for taking his game to new levels, but of course in reality the NBA’s Most Improved Player award is but the tip of the iceberg. As we saw last year, Golden State’s Monta Ellis (an ETB favorite) deserved the honor, but so did Sactown’s Kevin Martin. Just like the annual MVP and ROY races, there’s usually multiple candidates one could make a legitimate case for as being most deserving of the MIP award. But though we’ve recently talked up Kobe vs. LeBron ...
