I’m pretty sure I’ve touched on the subject of high home run totals with low OPS+ figures before, but watching Ryan Howard with the Phillies tonight, it’s worth talking about again. Howard hit his 23rd homer of the season earlier tonight against the Mets, but entered the game with an OPS+ of just 101, meaning that his overall production is just a tick above average.
