Q!nicorn Droppings: Say Goodbye to General Soreness and Toby Edition
South Side Sox — ... Royals Acquire Mike Jacobs For Some Reason - Royals Review examines the acquisition made by The Traditional AL Central Doormat and wonders why.  Other observers have done the same.  The cost was a relief arm, so that's unlikely to be a major loss, but for a team that's got Billy Butler and Kila Kaaihue, there's opportunity cost if Jacobs is getting at bats over cheaper and higher potential players.  He's also a liability at first as Chone's projections have him at 8 runs below average.  Konerko is a -3, for comparison.  For the Royals' sake, I hope this ...

Leo Nunez Traded to Marlins for Mike Jacobs
Bucs Dugout — ... the Royals are that bad team. This move probably amounts to an admission that Billy Butler should DH going forward, which sounds fine to me, but what about Kila Ka'aihue, who had a ridiculous 1.085 OPS in Class AA and AAA this year while hitting 37 homers and posting 104 walks against 67 strikeouts? If that isn't the line of a player who deserves a shot in the big leagues, I don't know what is. And Ka'aihue and Jacobs are both left-handed, so they can't be platooned. Royals Review has it right: "Royals Acquire Mike Jacobs for Some Reason." ...

What They Are Saying…The Mike Jacobs Trade
SporTech Matter — ... Royals Review: Jacobs has legitimate power and should be an upgrade over Gload. Unfortuately, that isn’t really a useful standard. Losing Nunez isn’t a disaster, but considering the Royals already had upgrades over Gload on hand, and that 1B/DH is the easiest position to fill, the trade just seems, in a best case scenario, pointless. Questions about Moore’s ability to build a lineup unfortunately must continue. C ...
