 Royals don’t land Santana … Links5
KANSAS CITY — Royals general manager Dayton Moore did not deny that the Royals finished a very close second in their efforts to acquire two-time Cy Young Award winner Johan Santana on Tuesday. Come on, Moore said. You re just being stupid now. OK, fine. You know what s funny? Joe Posnanski Blog: Royals don’t land Santana … The deal is contingent on Santana cutting a long-term deal with the Mets — they have a 48-72 hour window to do that. Obviously that will happen, even if Santana asks for a billion jillion shmillion dollars. What, the Mets are going to hold a press conference to announce that they have to send Santana BACK TO THE TWINS? I don’t think so. That press conference would be followed by an announcement that the Mets will be playing next year’s games at the bottom of the East River. The first person who texted me — the one who actually ...

There was no way they would pursue Randy Johnson. There was no way they'd let Buffet-Rod come back if he opted out. What were the odds they wouldn't sweeten this deal? ...

... Actually, I lied above. Joe Posnanski had probably the best piece of all on the trade. It really gives you some valuable insight and basically, no one is right or wrong. There are valid reasons to be on either side of the fence or straddling it. ...

Bunt Singles: Groundhog Day

... Santana was traded to the Mets this week, signed a six year, 137.5M deal with them last night and is now gone from the American League. While that could potentially come back to haunt the A.L. in the World Series, until then, the I think teams around the league breathed a sigh of relief. The Twins got some prospects and mixed reaction from around the league. ...
