Royals Moving Towards Bartolo Colon
Published 1/3/2008 by Mullet at FanHouse
... as his 28 starts the last two seasons are less than his 33 starts in '05, when he won the Cy Young Award. If this contract is heavy on the guarantees and light on the incentives, then those Royals fans are going to go through the '08 season keeping their fingers tightly crossed and while performing some sort of ritualistic dance to keep Colon healthy. Some in the Royals front office might be learning that dance at this moment. Arm bashes all around: Metsblog, and MLB Trade Rumors Permalink | Email this ...
Royals Hot on Bartolo Colon?
Published 1/3/2008 by joe at Mets Today
According to the Mullet on AOL, who heard from MetsBlog, who heard from MLBTradeRumors, who heard from Impacto Deportivo (through Google translator), the Kansas City Royals might be about to sign Bartolo Colon — clearly one of the fattest free agent pitchers this side of Bob Wickman.
Or, there could be something lost in the translation.

What they still need - AL Central: 2008 style

... all set for 2008, save a starter or two. Gil Meche will continue to be an underachieving, overpriced, overpaid veteran; Brian Bannister will be a decent second tier starter who can get you 12 wins, and then, well, then things get interesting. The enigma that is Zack Greinke will start out of the third slot in the rotation and you can stop counting there. Jorge de la Rosa could have a good year, but it doesn’t mean the Royals will stop looking for other starters (et tu, Bartolo?)
In their defense, the Royals have been able to hold on to a group ...
Anatomy of a player: Bartolo Colon
Published 2/5/2008 by Josh Kalk at The Hardball Times
Anatomy of a player: Bartolo Colon by Josh Kalk February 05, 2008 Now that the Johan Santana sweepstakes are done and most among the thin group of free agent pitchers have signed, teams still looking for pitching probably are grasping at straws. Recently, Bartolo Colon 's name has been linked to several teams including the Royals and Rangers . Colon, who has been pitching in winter ball with mixed results , has struggled the previous two years and hasn't managed either 30 starts or 200 innings in those years combined. Much has been ...
