Jose Molina did some base-running drills before the game last night and joked afterward that he’s still not fast.
But he was able to run from second base to home with adequate enough speed to score on a single, which is all the Yankees really need him to do. Then he stood at the plate ...

On the composition of the bench
River Avenue Blues —
With Xavier Nady out for the rest of the season, the Yankees’ roster picture has become more clear. Whereas before they were awaiting the return of a player who would add depth, now they know that player is not coming. The Yankees have a number of options moving forward, both for the immediate future and in preparation for the July 31st trade deadline.
Starting in the present, PeteAbe reports that Jose Molina will return in about a week. The Yankees could do one of three things:
Carry three catchers and option Ramiro Pena to Scranton ...

Jackson not the answer right now
riveraveblues.com 7/27/2009 — With Brett Gardner shelved until at least mid-August with a broken thumb, the Yankees will need another outfielder. They do have three players on the active roster — Cody Ransom, Eric Hinske, and Hideki Matsui — to spell their three ...

The Yankees are Slumping
yanksgoyard.com 6/22/2009 — I feel the same way, A-Rod. Of course it's still all your fault.
This is not how it was supposed to go. The Yankees had a tough stretch of games against the Red Sox and Mets, but were rewarded with back to back series against bad NL teams. The Nationals have a chance to set the all time ...
A Tired Story for the Yankees
soxandpinstripes.com 6/22/2009 — I see no silver linings from last night's game. Too little too ...
Some Yankees head to Tampa
nyyankeesrumors.com 5/25/2009 — A caravan of Yankees was headed down to Tampa after today’s game. Jose Molina and Cody Ransom have serious injuries and I wouldn’t expect to see either of them soon ...
Looking at the Yankees on an Off Day
puristbleedspinstripes.com 6/29/2009 — The past two weeks have been not so much a Tale of Two Teams as it has a Tale of Two Offenses. Both weeks the Yankees pitched decently--certainly well enough that they could have won nearly every game they played--but in the first week of interleague, the team was undone by their offense. ...
Should Yanks Call Up Austin Jackson?
nybaseballdigest.com 6/25/2009 — Chuck Johnson of Dugout Central brought up this point.
Put Jackson in the everyday lineup and let him play. If he goes 0-4, yet wins the game with a great defensive play, he’s still performing at a level Cabrera and Gardner can’t. If he goes 3-4, pilfers a couple of sacks and scores a run ...
