Saint Louis held to 20 in loss to GW (AP)
Rick Majerus knew it would take some time to get Saint Louis playing the kind of successful basketball he's used to getting from his teams. He couldn't have expected a game like Thursday night's Saint Louis set a modern Division I record for fewest points in a game, falling 49-20 to George Washington in the Atlantic 10 opener for both teams.

Worst of the Night: January 10, 2008
Basketbawful — ... Saint Louis Billikens: I'm not a big fan of college basketball (unless it's my alma mater or March Madness), but I couldn't not mention this travesty: The Billikens set a modern Division I record for fewest points in a game with 20. Saint Louis went 0 for their first nine shot attempts. At one point, they missed 23 consecutive shots and finished 7-for-48 (14.6 percent) from the field, including 1-for-19 from 3-point range. They had scored only 7 points by halftime, a performance that made their 13-point second half look positively scintillating. ...

I'm walking on at Saint Louis
Construda — I've decided to transfer from Ball State and enroll at Saint Louis, in hopes of walking onto the basketball team. I've got a pretty good chance, too. The Billikens set a modern Division I record for fewest points in a game with their 49-20 loss to George Washington . No team since the shot clock was introduced in the 1985-86 season has scored fewer points. Saint Louis shot a dismal ...

Does Rick Majerus Know What He's Doing?
Sports articles at Blogcritics — Try a little experiment: 1. Go to the nearest basketball hoop with the following objects: a basketball and a cell phone. 2. Take 20 shots. You may take them from anywhere on the court. 3. If you make 11 of 20 shots, check your cell phone. Have you received a call from Rick Majerus yet? If not, take solace that you still outscored his St. Louis University Billikens last night . Majerus surely expected some tough nights in his first year as the Billikens head coach, taking over players with dubious basketball credentials ("can identify basketball from one own's posterior", ...

St. Louis Decides To Slow It Down... Considerably
stopvitale.collegehoopsnet.com 1/11/2008 — This just ended, and a mere glance at the final score had me racing to my computer. George Washington 49, St. Louis 20 FINAL Yes, that is real. If you remember earlier in the week, everyone laid into Savannah State for only scoring four points in the second half against Kansas State on 1-23 shooting, both record lows for a half in the shot clock era. Well, they scored five points more than ...

This, of course means, a) I can shoot better than any Billiken and can score more than Husak; or b) I'm just as bad and will fit right in to Rick Majerus' scheme. Either way, Majerus needs to look me up.
