It all depends on what you think it means to be the Most Valuable Player. Does it mean the player who is worth (or gets paid) th most money (Shaq)? Is it the player who leads the team to the best record, which is a very different thing than to imagine what the Lakers would be like without Kobe? Is it the player that brings the most money and attention to the NBA?
