You’ll need a subscription to read the article, but basically, Scout.com is reporting that the Vikings have increased their trade offer for Kansas City stud defensive end Jared Allen. The Purple have spent the past few days dangling this year’s first- and third-round draft picks in front of the Chiefs — however, according to a source, they have recently added their second-round pick in 2009 to the offer.
A day or two ago, I considered Tampa to be an outside contender for Allen, but I never really thought they’d pose a serious threat to the Vikings in the Allen sweepstakes. Might this sudden increase in the Purple’s trade offer signify that the Bucs ...

Is it just me, or does it seem like this Jared Allen soap opera marathon is set to keep dragging on forever? I mean, you would think that the Chiefs would have learned their lesson from last year’s ridiculous three-ring side show circus involving former Chiefs QB Trent Green, but then again, when Carl Peterson is involved, anything can happen.
