Self should ignore the dollars and stay at Kansas - Columnist
SAN ANTONIO -- Don't do it, Bill Self. Don't take billionaire T. Boone Pickens' money, even if it means you could walk from Lawrence, Kan., to Stillwater, Okla., on a road paved with his cash. Don't become Dollar Bill, the guy who gets money whipped into leaving hoops heaven for what has become a hoops graveyard. Don't leave Kansas for Oklahoma State. Not now. Not ever. And especially not ... [link]

Perspectives on an Epic Title Game
Published 4/8/2008 by nvr1983 at Rush the Court
I provided my instant (revised) analysis very early this morning and rtmsf will be providing his a little later today. I thought I would provide you with some of the thoughts of various other sportswriters. -At the Alamo, this was one to remember: Bob Ryan, who most of you may know from his frequent appearances on ESPN, offers his thoughts on the game and the Kansas ...

K-State Slate, 4/9/08

Bill Walker is currently listed on NBA Draft Express' early-entry list, which started a rumor yesterday that he has officially declared for the NBA draft. Not true, according to K-State SID Tom Gilbert, in a statement to the KC Star yesterday.  My guess is Walker will at least file his papers with the advisery committee, but will not hire an agent in case he doesn't like what he hears. Tough loss last night for the Bat Cats, who fell 4-3 to Wichita State.  The Cats walked in two runs in the fifth inning and then grounded into a game-ending double play with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth.  Next up for ...

This and That

... when someone has a chance to go home to their Alma Mater, where they met their wife, where their family still resides, it just makes sense, especially when Boone Pickens is willing to pay upwards of $3.5 million/year. By the way, what do you do with that kind of money in Stillwater, OK? Everywhere he goes people will pick up the tab. Car allowance. House allowance. Where do you spend that money? You work too dang much to vacation. It just piles up. How awesome is that? This ESPN.com article by Gene Wojciechowski doesn't do it for me. And it bothers me on so many ...

Good Thing Bill Self Didn't Leave Kansas
Published 4/13/2008 by larry b at Fire Jay Mariotti
Gene Wojceichowski spells out all the reasons why this would have been a disastrous decision in an article from early last week. And if you're familiar with Gene, you should realize that when I say "spells out all the reasons," I mean "meanders through a poorly organized junkyard of thoughts and sentences." Don't do it, Bill Self. Don't take billionaire T. Boone Pickens' money, even if it means you could walk from Lawrence, Kan., to Stillwater, Okla., on a road paved with his cash. Call me nuts, I really don't see the point of signing a contract just so you can make a road to your new place of ...
