Only a day after the Senate held a hearing on the question of whether Steelers chairman Dan Rooney would be confirmed as the U.S. ambassador to Ireland, the Senate approved the appointment previously made by President Obama. Per the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review , Rooney’s assignment was confirmed by a voice vote . Rooney will end his day-to-day employment with the Steelers, where he has worked since 1955. The reins will now pass to his son, team president Art Rooney II.
