Shame on Izzy For Giving Up Links0
Harsh words for Izzy for volunteering out of the closer's job. If he can't do his job in the 9th, what makes the Cards think he can do it in the 7th or 8th? [link]

It's ridiculus that Isringhausen is taking himself out of the closer's role.  He should want the ball all the time in whatever situation matters most for the team.  It's not his decision to move to a different role; it's the manager's; and if he's having this serious self-confidence issues, then he'll be no better as a set-up man.

I think he just needs a little break.  The poor guy has been closing for almost 10 years!  He'll be back real soon, he just needs to get centered again in a lower-pressure situation.

I'm just pissed that now he won't get a chance to break the blown saves record.

Maybe he'll pull a Gagne and ask for the role back now.

Roto Chronicles: National League–May 12

Plenty of pitchers made this week’s edition of Ruts and Royalty. It’s been a busy week on the diamond and there were very little surprises that were conjured up. Players broke out of slumps, players hit themselves out of respectability and the Brewers’ pitching staff seems to have their swagger back (with the exception of Gagne). Ruts: Eric Gagne: He was removed from the closer ...

The Dugout: Eric Gagné With A Spoon

What a terrible time to be a relief pitcher. We're only a month and a half into the season and already people are being pulled out of position for poor performance, scolded for showing emotion, and blamed for managerial jobs being put on the line. ...
