In his last act before leaving town, Shaun Rogers did the Detroit Lions a tremendous favor. According to two sources close to the situation, it was Rogers himself who helped nullify a so-so trade with the Cincinnati Bengals and then engineer a much more lucrative deal with the Cleveland Browns. Tom Kowalski of Mlive.com has more info on the collapse of the deal that would have sent former Lions defensive tackle Shaun Rogers to Cincinnati.  As it turns out, once the deal didn’t get finalized by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, the Bengals proposed refunding the Lions the $1 million roster bonus that the team was on the hook to pay as of midnight on Saturday. But the league told the teams that there was no language in the CBA that applied to this kind of a maneuver.
