The latest blow came Monday with the news that Gary Sheffield would be placed on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to August 22 with a sore right shoulder injury. Tigers manager Jim Leyland said the decision was based in part on Sheffield's shoulder not healing as quickly as expected.
