Sports Illustrated is Taking Crazy Pills
Published 7/2/2007 by Pat at Doubt About It
I am a staunch supporter and reader of Sports Illustrated...the magazine, that is. The website? Aye carumba. After an article by Peter King in which Big Ben was rated the 13th best quarterback in Allegheny county (slight exaggeration), now comes the news that Dan Rooney is the 9th best owner in the NFL. ...
July: Irrelevant Controversy Season
Published 7/2/2007 by Pacifist Viking at Pacifist Viking
... tells you what current players should make the Hall of Fame. Michael Silver ranks the NFL owners. But you already knew these things, didn't you? Because they gave you a chance to debate football, and they've already given a lot of football bloggers something to argue against. And the odds of more such articles in the next month are even better than the odds that half of America is going to spend Wednesday lined up to watch firetrucks and clowns move down the street at three miles per hour. ...

Georgia Frontiere Staring at Al Davis' Hiney
Published 7/3/2007 at STLSportsMag
... the 11th worst owner in the NFL?) "With Frontiere essentially checked out, Shaw, the longtime team president, is the de facto owner. He's a guy I'd like to have a beer with -- which, evidently, makes him a guy who could end up in the White House -- even when we're not of a like mind. To Shaw's credit, after years of front-office dysfunction, he initiated some necessary changes after the '05 season, beginning with the jettisoning of hyper-paranoid coach Mike Martz. Successor Scott Linehan has a chance to be special, and no one rushes through the nearest door when he walks down the hallway." I think it's safe to say Michael Silver ran out of steam when he got to number 21. It's also safe to say that Georgia Frontiere being sandwiched between Al Davis and Randy Lerner is quite disgusting. Though to be fair to objective journalism, Georgia loves Dick. (Vermeil, that is. She loved Dick Vermeil. Get your head out of the gutter) (GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE GUTTER I SAY!!!). ...

Ranking the NFL Owners
Published 7/7/2007 by Aaron Schatz at Football Outsiders
Ranking the NFL Owners July, July, never seemed so strange. There s nothing to write about these days but lists. Michael Silver of SI.com takes on the always fun and controversial task of ranking the 32 owners. Robert Kraft comes in number one, and it is pretty hard for even the most angry Patriots-hater to argue with that one. Not only does the guy run a winning team, but he gives a ton of money to charity and he s building a big mall out by Gillette Stadium that s actually going drive business to Foxboro the other 355 days of the year. When I was in high school, we only went to Foxboro for the $2.50 movie theater and the only Friendly s in Massachusetts that actually washed the silverware. Jerry Jones is second, Jerry Richardson third. Bringing up the rear oh, come on, you know who it is. Mike Brown, of course. posted

My question is, are the Krafts really better owners than any other of the fat cats? ...
