NFL Week 11---The National Take
Sportsfrog.com — ... that this has a real shot of happening? Welcome to the rest of the world. Still, the biggest obstacle in the collective dream of seeing an 0-16 season? The Bengals. They play Miami the last game of the year. And, knowing the team I root for, are more than capable of choking with the spotlight on them. Hell, they live for that. A loss to Miami to end the season would make a lot of sense in terms of how that team operates. Peter King is again up earlier than ususal with MMQB and has this observation: "1. No one except maybe the '27 Yankees could beat the ...

MMQB: Scoring Frenzy
Football Outsiders MMQB: Scoring Frenzy This week, Peter King does a great job of talking to just about everybody involved in the end-of-regulation Phil Dawson field goal that sent the Browns and Ravens to overtime. He also has some thoughts on the Colts, Eagles, and cable companies. And the Patriots are still undefeated, apparently. posted 11-19-2007 at 9:24 AM by ...

Fallout
18 to 88 — ... Peter King thought going for it on fourth down was crazy. I was espousing Dungy's logic yesterday, that the Chiefs were likely to be forced to punt to the Colts, and they would have a chance to move into FG range anyway. The real mistake was taking the timeout with 6 instead of 2 seconds left. Demond mentioned it yesterday, but I've seen lots of coaches do this. I'm not sure why. We did it against Denver last year as well. I get doing that on 3rd down, in case of a bad snap, but on 4th down why not just let ...

Put This Channel on Basic Cable Today!
Sports Media Journal — ... .  My opinion hasn’t changed.  Although both the network and the cable companies are concerned about their personal income,  it is the sole responsibility of the cable company to decide where a good portion of its programming resides…and for what price. Peter King had a great take on this issue in today’s column .  He talks about how the NFL Network wants to charge 80 cents per subscriber per month for cable companies to carry the channel.  That figure is well below cable television offerings such as CNN.  King (who indicates his potential conflict because he is employed by SI ...

The Week in Quotes: November 22, 2007
Football Outsiders — ... something odd had happened. Then I saw the refs huddling, and people at that end of the field were insisting [the ball] was over [the crossbar]. So I thought we had a chance.” – Dawson “But the whole time they’re huddling, it’s like a jury being out. You’re powerless. It’s agonizing. When they said it was good, I just thought: Sweet justice. “ – Dawson“It’s justice, to be honest with you. We’ve had some pretty weird things happen to us over the years, none of them good.'’ – Dawson ( Sports Illustrated ) EVERY LITTLE COUNTRY? DOES THAT INCLUDE LICHTENSTEIN?“I got it. I could ...
