 Peter King: NFL power rankings
It's time. Eight days until the first full squad (Pittsburgh) reports. Sixty days until opening night (New Orleans-Indianapolis). From the sounds of my Sirius satellite radio -- which somehow found programming every day of my vacation for the NFL Channel (how do you do it, Bob Papa ?) -- all of you are ready, and have been ready for weeks. Not much has changed since the draft, though. With a ... [link]

Peter King Is Frustrating
Published 7/16/2007 by Scott at Bucstats.com
... I am sometimes critical of national NFL analysts because they take too broad a view of the Buccaneers and don't deliver any meaningful analysis. But I kind of have to hand it to (sigh) Peter King in his three sentence analysis of the Buccaneers in his rankings of all 32 teams. ...

... The Namesake is? The guy’s like a cross between Charles Woodson and Devin Hester. Plus, the Colts lost their entire defense except for Booger, Freeney and Colonel Sanders. How can you have the Colts ranked above the Pats? Get real, Peter. - Peter King’s Monday Morning QB (SI.com) ...

Tuesday Bullet Points
Published 7/17/2007 by mondesishouse at Mondesishouse.com
... I must admit, when I heard Peter King had his preseason Power Rankings, I was fully prepared to be disappointed. Why I would be upset with what another man thinks about a football team might be a deeper issue of mine, but we'll save that for another time. Anyway, his ranking of 12th was more than fair for the Steelers. I was pleasantly surprised. Also in this article, Pete becomes the 356,789th person to write about how he dislikes ESPN's Who's Now? segment. Might be time to take that idea into the shop for a tune-up. ...

SI's NFL Team Power Rankings
Published 7/17/2007 by Beavercat at PAFFL - Opinonated Fantasy Football News & Analysis
SI.com's Peter King published his first of many ' Power Rankings' for the upcoming NFL season. Though its hard to argue with his predictions, particularly at this point, I have to say that Indy at #1 is a little off center and likely a nod to their super bowl title from last season. The reality is San Diego and New England both improved themselves while Indy (which barely beat NE at home in the AFC Championship game) took a step back due to defections in free agency.

Water Break Cancels Browns' Family Night

... PETER KING RANKS US LAST: In other news, SI's Peter King has ranked the Browns dead last in his preseason power rankings. I know some people hate King's input, but I've always been a big supporter of his work. That doesn't mean I agree with it necessarily, but I enjoy dissecting his opinions. Here is his exact quote on the Browns: 32. Cleveland: The Browns are beginning to draft their way out of the abyss. But it's a pretty deep abyss. Obviously, this would mean that we've drafted core players - QB Brady Quinn, TE Kellen Winslow, OL Joe Thomas, and LB Kamerion Wimbley. Unfortunately, it means that the rest of our team is absolute crap (with the exception of a guy like Eric Steinbach). At the end of the season, for all we know, King could ...

Peter King Rips Those Who Ripped His Bengals Predictions
Published 7/18/2007 by Sportz Assassin at FanHouse
... I like SI.com's Peter King. I like him even more now that he's coming back swinging after fans ripped him for his pre-season power rankings. In there, he picked the Bengals 17th ... behind the Panthers, Titans, Steelers and ... gasp ... the Lions. His reasoning?Mediocre across the board last year -- 4-4 at home, 4-4 on the road, 6-6 in the conference. What's changed? Sam Adams and Leon Hall. In other words, very little. That's why I put the Bengals smack dab in the middle of the pack. ...

Silly power-rankings, ESPN takes a crap on us, and more fun news

... . Whenever you turn on ESPN, get used to the Patriots ball rubbing they do. While most other seemingly legit sports news outlets (like CNNSI) have the Colts at the top spot in their power rankings. Of course, power rankings don't mean crap, but it is generally a sign of simple respect to have the Super Bowl champions as #1 in the power rankings when the season starts. Hell, even the pro-Patriots site ...

Breaking Down the AFC South

Much like the AFC East, the AFC South really is a division with one powerhouse team, one decent team, and two teams that have potential, but appear to be far behind the division leader. The talent at the top of the Indianapolis Colts is far and above the other three teams, and really the question will be what week do the Colts win the division? The other question about Indy is will they lose ...
