Sillinger gets a little hip 'resurfacing'
Lighthouse Hockey — "Hip resurfacing" surgery just plain sounds painful. Apparently it is different from "microfracture" hip surgery -- which is what Mike Sillinger had one year ago to end his season and severely delay the start of this one. One wonders if the additional surgery was made out of ...

Mike Sillinger's season over
NEW YORK ISLANDER FAN CENTRALIslanders website & AP & Newsday Islander blog/Mr Logan & Point Blank/Mr Botta: All report Mike Sillinger will undergo a second hip surgery and miss the remainder of the season. NYI Fan Central Comments: It's interesting Sillinger seemed very optimistic about being part of Islanders camp come the fall considering this and the fact he will be an unrestricted free agent on 7/1. I just do not see it and hope it's not the end for him. Too good a player who has been such a class act for so many organizations. ...

Isles-Lightning: Smith injury 'mystery,' Lightning folding?
Lighthouse Hockey — ... , they nonetheless provide the Islanders company in the whole if-we-knew-we'd-have-to-kill-you school of full goaltender injury awareness. Ah, but that's an old meme: In truth, the Islanders have gotten much better about injury disclosure (no doubt in part thanks to reporter and fan pressure). And look! Not a single extra man-game lost to overly informative injury disclosure! Who knew? ...
