... I would be totally remiss if I didn't direct you toward our series on small markets around the NFL, which recently kicked off over at resident Jaguar blog Big Cat Country. River City Rage takes a look at the hideously disfigured spectre of relocation, a common threat for the Jaguars. In future weeks some of our other talented bloggers will join the chorus line to talk about some of the difficulties faced by teams in regions with either little money or little interest, so be sure to scour around to check out more.

... Some of the NFL blogs here at SB Nation have put together a small market roundtable designed to discuss some of the hot topics in regards to playing in a small market.  The Lions aren't necessarily a small market team persay, but after all of the hell Matt Millen has put the fans through, it is beginning to look that way.  Last week's topic was relocation, which really didn't concern me very much since the chances of that every happening to the Lions are about as good as a Super Bowl title every coming to this city.  Tomorrow's topic however is new stadiums, and POD will be the host.

... The second week of the SB Nation Small Market Roundtable is upon us, meaning that Pride of Detroit has the honor of hosting topic #2.  Last week things got underway over at Big Cat Country, the Jacksonville blog here at SBN, to discuss relocation.  That really didn't have much bearing on Detroit as there is absolutely no chance the Lions will really ever move somewhere else.  This week's topic does relate back to the Lions as it is discussing new stadiums in the NFL.  Ford Field opened in 2002 and today is still considered one of the finest in the league.

SB Nation Small Market Roundtable: Revenue Sharing
Published 6/27/2007 by BigBlueShoe <info@stampedeblue.com> at Stampede Blue: Front Page Posts
... The problems are not devastating at the moment, but the future implications are. The rich teams are going to get richer, and by comparison the poor teams will be getting poorer. Without some sort of local revenue sharing plan, smaller-market teams may be forced to relocate to bigger cities with better stadiums, richer people to buy luxury seats and more attractive facilities to free agents. The growing disparity will drive out what makes football football. Blue-collar, lesser-revenue cities like Buffalo - who rely on the Bills both as a boost to the Western New York economy as well as one of the main entertainment attractions - won't have a team to cheer for. Isn't sports about the "little guy" competing with the big boys? ...
