Somebody Forgot to Tell Rocco Mediate the U.S. Open Is Over
I know it's only Thursday and talking about a winner is premature, but could there be a better story than Rocco Mediate winning the British Open after that heartbreaking loss last month at Torrey Pines? Mediate, who has only finished in the top-30 once in a British Open, is your current clubhouse leader, firing a one-under 69 that included a chip-in on 17 for birdie from the rough and a ... [link]

... and Andres Romero. Currently 10-over - Stewart Cink, Pat Perez (who went 82-68), Tom Watson, and Aaron Baddeley. The cut keeps moving between 8-over and 9-over, so anything around there will be just on the cusp. Also, K.J. Choi is now tied for the lead with Greg Norman, with Camilo Villegas and David Duval a shot back. Padraig Harrington finished his round eagle-birdie for a 68 that has him just two shots back of the lead, as is Jim Furyk and Rocco Mediate. Whew. Did you get all that? The 2008 British Open - Final Notes
For only the second time in history, the British Open has been won by a player from the Republic of Ireland, Padraig Harrington. The first time was last year, and the winner was... the same Padraig Harrington. So Padraig is now the first Irishman to win the second Irishman to win and the first to win back-to-back in a quarter of a century. And that's impressive... And it makes me quite proud ...
The Normans Have Invaded England Yet Again [British Open]
Not since 1066 has England been this shocked of a Norman ruling their empire. Greg Norman, winner of the '86 and '93 Opens, is the clubhouse leader after 54 holes with 2-over-par. He was a half-inch from finishing the 18th hole with a chip-in and another few inches from an eagle on 17. A couple more breaks and the 53-year-old newlywed might possess a four-stroke lead. He hasn't won a PGA ...
How is this British Open enjoyable to watch?
Nobody is out there conquering the elements…the winner is simply gonna be whichever golfer happens to suck the least. Wherever he is in this world right now, Tiger Woods is watching with his left leg propped up on some silk-covered pillows and laughing his ass off. However, this is literally the best possible situation for all the entities involved…ABC, PGA, ESPN, the sponsors…who would ...
An Asterisk Without Tiger Woods?
Really? There are people who believe that the winner of the British Open should have an asterisk? That is absolutely absurd. Seriously. Let’s get real here. These professional golfers are all so much better than most of us will ever be. They have to be! Trust me, if they’re on tour, they’re excellent. Putting an asterisk next to any win they have is a slap in the face. They’ve prepared. ...
2008 British Open: The Claret Jug
ONE HUNDRED FIFTY-SIX GOLFERS will be vying for it over the next four days. It’s been accidently struck by the golf swing of five-time champion Tom Watson. It’s held various libations consumed by winners over the decades. And it once sat on Ben Curtis’ television for a week so the unlikely Open Championship winner could see it every time he sat down to watch the tube. I’m referring, of ...
Jack Rails Against Stupid Changes
