Browns Linked to Bill Cowher, Again
FanHouse — ... It's a bad week, so there's another Cowher rumor. Pro Football Talk is reporting that a source told PFT that the Browns have already approached Cowher about the job (sorry Romeo, your firing will come later) and will offer the former Steelers head coach $8 or $9 million for the job. ...

Report: Browns courting Bill Cowher
SmackCaster SmackBlog — ... Profootballtalk.com’s Mike Florio is reporting the Cleveland Browns are trying to woo Bill Cowher with a contract that would be worth between $8 and $9 million annually. Wow! Cowher has a history in Cleveland, playing for the then-Browns (now Ravens) from 1980-82. He also was special teams coach in 1985 and 1986. ...

Bill Cowher Leaving CBS To Coach The Browns?
SPORTSbyBROOKS — ... Bill Cowher has been sitting around laughing at bad jokes for two years now in the “NFL Today” studio, which means it’s probably just about time to cut loose from Marino and Esiason and get back on the field, even if it is for the Browns, the hated rival of his former Steelers. I’m sure the people in Pittsburgh would take this very well. PRO FOOTBALL TALK’s Mike Florio says Cowher is being courted by the Browns , and they’re willing to offer him $8-9 million per year to put up with Brady Quinn , Kellen Winslow , and a variety of staph infections. As for Savage, this talk ...

Deadspin — ... • Browns Want Cowher Power. They're 4-6, profane emails are flying all over the place and staph infections are running rampant. Who better to pull the Browns out of their current morass than Bill Cowher, who can defeat bacteria with his menacing stare alone? Browns Want Bill Cowher [Blog Patrol]
FanIQ Blog — Yes, just so you all know, the Browns are indeed pursuing Bill Cowher. That is all. [Pro Football Talk] A guy with a Barry Bonds tattoo on his back. He also claims to have a girlfriend. One of those two things has to be a lie. [Mouthpiece Sports] A good interview with ESPN's Bob Ley. One of the few "journalists" at ESPN. [The Big Lead] A quiz on TV sports theme songs. Cleveland Browns Rumored to Offer Bill Cowher $8M
InGameNow — ... the struggle-ing Cleveland Browns are offering Bill Cowher $8-9M to coach them next year. Given the frustration in the front office, this is not entirely a far-fetched rumor, but its not substantiated either. It should also be noted that Cowher himself played-for and then coached Browns (i.e. present-day Ravens) as an assistant from 1980-88. Cowher thinks it over. Hat tip to profootballtalk.com for the source.

Cleveland Browns Courting Bill Cowher?
Every Morning Quarterback — ... I don’t doubt the validity of the offer, but I question whether coach Cowher wants to return to the game. At that rate of compensation, and if he would have the control he wants (meaning Browns GM Phil Savage would probably be ousted), it would have to be pretty tempting. My guess is that he won’t say a word about it until after the season if over. At that time, look for negotiations to heat up. I believe coach Cowher will be back on NFL sidelines in 2009. One For The Other Thumb — ... Oh, and by the way, the Browns have apparently "approached" Cowher with the generous offer of $8-$9 million to Coach the Browns. And according to the report, if Cowher were to accept, he'd likely try and recruit dudes like Kevin Colbert. I swear if this happens, I will either cry or go on some violent rage in protest. Simply put, this CAN NOT happen. Ugh...
