Tiger Gumbeaux Thinking about the Culpepper mention elsewhere on Ballhype, just another example of a team needing an experienced hand, at least in the background, if not under center right away...Surely there should be an affordable way to keep some of these guys around on teams than may need them... -
oubobcat6 What's the point of even signing Culpepper or someone else this season? That team is awful at 0-7, and if I'm Culpepper, after seeing that offensive line, I'm not sure I'd even want to get under center for Cincinnati. Plus, doing something like signing Culpepper would be agressive and show you want to win. That's not Mike Brown's thing. Season is sold out, so his work is done. (Not that I'm the least bit bitter.)
Sources: Bengals' Palmer likely won't return in 2008, but is delaying surgery
Out of Bounds —
From ESPN.com
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer is unlikely to play another game in the 2008 season but he will delay a decision on whether to have surgery to repair a "frayed" ligament in his right throwing elbow, sources told ESPN.
Palmer's injury is to one portion of the ulnar collateral ligament and he has been told that Tommy John surgery would repair the problem with positive results, the sources said. However, doctors have agreed that Palmer's conservative approach to such an operation is ...
REPORT: PALMER LIKELY DONE FOR SEASON
ProFootballTalk.com —
Chris Mortensen of ESPN is reporting that Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer is likely to miss the remainder of the season with an elbow injury. Citing unnamed sources, Mortensen reports that the ulnar collateral ligament in Palmer’s throwing elbow is “ frayed .” However, the Bengals are apparently not planning to put Palmer on injured reserve just yet, leaving open the possibility that he could return if the elbow heals more quickly than thought. Realistically, though, it’s hard to believe an 0-7 team would risk the long-term health of its franchise quarterback by having him ...

As typical Bengals luck would have it, on the same day that Marvin Lewis said that the Bengals won't be placing Carson Palmer on Injury Reserve (and thus my actual optimistic outlook, using that factor heavily), Chris Mortensen writes that Palmer isn't likely"to play another game in the 2008 season" but has "delayed a decision whether to have" Tommy John surgery. ...

Carson Palmer done for year? There goes that Bengals Super Bowl
Shutdown Corner —
Rather than risking further injury to their franchise quarterback, or perhaps the increase the likelihood of that elusive 0-16 season, the Cincinnati Bengals are unlikely to see Carson Palmer under center for the remainder of the year. Not that the Bengals are putting the former Pro Bowler on injured reserve just yet, as Palmer has asked the team give him two months to reach a decision on whether to have Tommy John surgery on the "frayed" ligaments in his throwing elbow. Palmer has already met with five specialists and ...
