KG Rumors go mainstream
Published 7/29/2007 at CelticsBlog
A quick update for everybody. Jeff Goodman of Foxsports is the first member of the mainstream media to pick up on this story. He ' s reporting as follows: According to sources, the current deal on the table has the 6-foot-11 Garnett heading to Boston and the Celtics dealing away Al Jefferson, Theo Ratliff ' s hefty expiring contract and Rajon Rondo. There may also be other players and draft picks involved. It ' s not quite done, but three industry sources including one close to the Celtics told FOXSports.com that it ' s extremely close and could become official within the next 48 hours. " It ' s basically done, " one source said. " If it does happen, this will make the Celtics relevant again. " The interesting thing here is the report that we ' re willing to move Rondo. I can ' t imagine going into the season with Telfair as our starting point guard, so either this story got it wrong, or there ' s another deal in the ...

Are The Celtics Back?
Published 7/30/2007 by Mini Me at WBRS Sports Blog
... After trading for Ray Allen on draft night I assumed it wasn't a matter of if but instead when Danny Ainge would be fired. However, it appears that Ainge is on the verge of making the best trade of his tenure as GM of the Celts, Garnett for Al Jefferson, Rajon Rondo and the expiring contract of Theo Ratliff (and most likely a few first round draft picks). I still question how the T-Wolves don't demand Gerald Green in place of Rondo, but that is a different issue entirely. ...

KG To The Celts...Again?

That's the word on the street. The deal would be Rondo, Al Jefferson, Ratliff's contract and probably some future picks, just to make sure that the Celtics, after a brief one-to-two year hiatus, won't be relevant again for the next decade. ...

KG to Boston Close - Some Thoughts
Published 7/30/2007 by FLCeltsFan at LOY's PLACE a celtics green blog
... Fox Sports is reporting that the trade will be Al, Ratliff and Rondo for Garnett. I don't like this one little bit. It is bad enough to give up Al but to give up Rondo too, that is too much. They report that the deal is basically done. The deal would give Ainge a team that could compete with anyone in the Eastern Conference with the trio of Paul Pierce, Garnett and Allen. The Celtics would also have nearly $60 million in salaries between the three players for next season alone. ...

That means exactly nothing, ...unless it actually happens. *11:00 PM- Fox Sports becomes the first mainstream media outlet to report the story: According to multiple sources close to the situation, Danny Ainge and the Celtics have agreed in principle to a deal that would bring the 10-time NBA All-Star from the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Al Jefferson, Theo Ratliff and his expiring contract, Gerald Green and Sebastian Telfair.
