Cubs Near Trade for Kendall
Published 7/17/2007 by Charlie <info@buccosdugout.com> at Bucs Dugout: Front Page Posts
The Cubs are close to acquiring Jason Kendall from the A's for Rob Bowen - who they'd just acquired in the Michael Barrett deal - and a minor leaguer. They had already designated Bowen for assignment. I don't know how much of Kendall's contract the Cubs are willing to take on. Anyway, bad move for the Cubs - Kendall's done, and I'd rather just go with Bowen if I were them. ...

More news out of Oakland as one of Pittsburgh's finest will be returning to the NL Central. No... not Kevin Young (hes still locked in on a 5 year $50 million dollar as Swan Lake's split specialist)...but the one and only Jason Kendall has been acquired by the Chicago Cubs. Yep, Mr. Skoal Man himself will once again be fertilizing the grass at PNC Park with what seems to be a never-ending supply of dip. I wonder where he got all that disposable income? ...

Cubs Acquire Jason Kendall
Published 7/17/2007 by Fornelli at Foul Balls
The Cubs traded Rob Bowen and minor league pitcher Jerry Blevins to the Oakland Athletics for catcher Jason Kendall . Kendall, a .298 career hitter in 12 major league seasons with Pittsburgh and Oakland, was batting only .226 for the A's this season with two homers and 22 RBIs. He was a three-time All-Star with the Pirates and is known for his ability to get on base. He has more walks than strikeouts during his career. "We certainly feel we're going to be in it the rest of the way. His character and his leadership is terrific. We feel he's still got a lot left in the tank," Cubs general manager Jim Hendry said. "It's a good fit for us, obviously it makes us better on the field and in the clubhouse. I spoke to him about half hour ago and I can't tell you how excited he is. He was thrilled." Kendall may be a .298 career hitter, but he's nowhere near that number this season. I thought the Cubs were interested in a catche ...
