airdisch A bit pricey for an average player...-
BadenBall I agree airdisch, deng is not the kind of player that wow's you. i will say this, d-rose on the other hand is, i cant wait to watch him in the league.

Oddsboard Yea this deal is ridiculous considering Elton Brand got only 10 million more and averages a double double and has made an All-Star roster. Deng has not won more than a Sportsmanship Award. They obviously feel he can compliment D-Rose by making this move.

Rumors and Free Agent Updates - Ron Ron on the Move Edition
LOY's PLACE a celtics green blog —
... Sources are reporting that Luol Deng and the Chicago Bulls have verbally agreed on a new six-year contract believed to be worth in excess of $70 million. The Bulls lost out on several big deals last season because they would not include Deng and so I expected that they would do whatever it took to keep him in a Bulls uniform. Deng is one of the few players in the league who give Paul Pierce problems defensively and for that reason, he would be in demand with teams who are looking for ways to match up against the Celtics. The Bulls are still reported to be far apart in ...

Blog a Bull —
[Woo-hoo! Original fanpost after the jump. The article actually says 'in excess' of $70m. Hopefully some more details will be available by Wednesday. If you couldn't tell after the many discussions here over the past few weeks, I'm just happy it's done, and the offseason is now underway. -ed.]
According to ESPN, Deng is close to signing a 70 million dollar deal over 6 years.
Seems about right, I'd have prefered to get him somewhat cheaper but it looks like the Okafor signing gave him a clear price to ask ...

The Restricted FAs Are Signing
Depressed Fan —
Three more big names on the restricted free agent market have signed, or are reported to be on the verge, since we last spoke about Monta Ellis's contract. Let's take a quick look and see if we can use these contracts to guess where Iguodala's deal will land. Luol Deng - 6 years, $71M Emeka Okafor - 6 years, $72M Andris Biedrins - 6 years, $62MMy quick take: If you believe Dalembert's contract is bad, you have to question the deals Okafor and Biedrins received. Both guys have a chance to average a double-double every ...

Rockets Steal Artest From Kings
RedsArmy.com - The Voice Of Celtics Fans —
... have. To pretty much compete for a championship, you need a trio and some great role players. I guess if it’s McGrady, Yao and Artest … I’ll let everybody else do the math.”
If Artest stays sane, and that’s a big IF, I see the Rockets as the best team in the Western conference. And you can tell Rockets fans feel the same way because they are already coming to Red’s Army to talk smack.
In other news, it looks like Luol Deng is about to get $71 million from the Bulls. ...
NO, NO NO-NO

... Still gets the shutout win. Like those are special over the Padres... The Mets top the Marlins 4-1 and the Phillies scored multiple runs, so they obviously beat the Nationals. Transactionland - Ron Artest got dealt to the Rockets for a crappy point guard, the rights to Donte Green and the first round pick of a likely playoff team. The Saints come to terms with first-round pick Sedrick Ellis and annoying former Dukie Luol Deng looks to finally get his long-term deal with the Bulls.
