New England Patriots Suspected of Stealing New York Jets Signals With Camera
Published 9/10/2007 at FanIQ Blog
Uh oh. Bill Belichick usually cuts off the sleeves on his hoodie, but that doesn't mean he still isn't hiding something further up. This is just speculation at this point, but it's worth noting that if these rumors are true it could be quite damaging. The New England Patriots are suspected of stealing defensive signals with a video camera. ...

... An investigation is under way as to some suspicious camera work and odd radio frequency occurrences during the Meadowlands yesterday. The claim states that the Patriots may have used a camera man to steal the Jets defensive signals and broadcast them to their coaching staff. And that apparently the same camera man was taken out of Lambeau during a previous Pat game. ...
ESPN: Patriots suspected of spying -- not for the first time

... from a New England Patriots employee Sunday in what Mortensen calls " a suspected spying incident. " An unnamed member of the league's competition committee, which could end up investigating the matter, says " it's not their first time. " Packers officials -- president Bob Harlan and security official Doug Collins -- tell Mortensen the same cameraman was removed from a game in Green Bay last year.

... and what now appears to be a spying ring the Pats staff has been involved in for some time, then it would appear that the Colts never needed to surmount the team, but rather, their deceitful machinations. That would tarnish things for me quite a bit. I have no doubt that The Chief would have gained any advantage possible during a judo match as long as it was within the bounds of what we both considered fair. I can trust him to do that. That makes my losses justified, and any victory sound. ...

Pats Stealing Signs?
Published 9/10/2007 by Bill Barnwell at Football Outsiders
Pats Stealing Signs? NFL security is investigating some shenanigans related to a Patriots representative in yesterday s Patriots-Jets game; namely, that the Patriots rep was aiming his camera at the Jets defensive coaches and the signals they were sending in to their players. In addition, there were radio frequency issues that occurred during the game, which sadly did not involve Bill Belichick pointing a giant remote control at Chad Pennington and Pennington writhing trying to avoid the radio signals eating his brain. Maybe that s why everyone cheered. posted

Now We Know What Belichick Has Under That Sweatshirt
Published 9/10/2007 by BDoc at The Sports Oasis
All this time we've wondered what New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick hid under that sweatshirt. Was it some Pete Carroll style abs? Maybe a six pack of Sam Adams? What about a blackbook full of married women's phone numbers? Or maybe a hidden camera that records through a tiny pinhole in the Patriots logo? If that's the case, he wouldn't be the first New England Patriots employee accused of violating the NFL's policy on sideline cameras. He wouldn't even be the first this season . NFL security confiscated a video camera and its tape from a New England Patriots employee on the team's sideline during Sunday's game against the Jets in a suspected spying incident, sources said. The camera and its tape were placed in a sealed box and forwarded to the league office for investigation, the sources said. The Patriots' cameraman was suspected of aiming his camera at the Jets' defensive coaches who were sending signals ...

The Patriots Cheated
Published 9/11/2007 by Eric at Off Wing Opinion
The Patriots Cheated It looks like we might have discovered one of Bill Belichick's secrets when it comes to success as an NFL head coach -- steal the other guy's defensive signals : NFL security confiscated a video camera and its tape from a New England Patriots employee on the team's sideline during Sunday's game against the Jets in a suspected spying incident, sources said. The camera and its tape were placed in a sealed box and forwarded to the league office for investigation, the sources said. "The rule is that no video recording devices of any kind are permitted to be in use in the coaches' booth, on the field, or in the locker room during the game," the league said in a statement from spokesman Greg Aiello. "Clubs have specifically been reminded in the past that the videotaping of an opponent's offensive or defensive signals on the sidelines is prohibited. "We are looking into whether the Patriots violated this ru ...

... For the moment, assume the Patriots are guilty of the alleged act. Supposedly, this violates an NFL rule. ... And while another article mentions that this has been going on for awhile with the Patriots, I'm not stupid enough to think that they are the only ones doing something like this. Stealing signals is why the NFL now has radio receivers in the quarterbacks helmets and the coaches calling the plays cover their mouths when calling in the play. Former Redskins Head Coach, the late George Allen, was notorious for his paranoia that he was being spied on. That probably had a lot to do with the fact that he was spying on other teams himself. ...
