Big Big News!!
Bluebird Banter —
... to Triple A Syracuse. Cito says he will play left and right field and some DH.
I suppose we should have known something was up when Stairs wasn't in the lineup tonight, but I just figure he wanted to give him a day off considering how poorly he's been hitting. It really is a great move, Stairs wasn't going to be a part of the team in the future and we aren't going anywhere this year so let's take a look at our future.
Update, update....
According to this Stairs is going to the Phillies and we will receive a prospect in return.
Matt Stairs Traded to Phillies
MLB FLEECE FACTOR: Providing MLB rumors and deciding who gets FLEECED. —
According to Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal, the Philadelphia Phillies have acquired left-handed hitting Matt Stairs from the Toronto Blue Jays. In this trade, the Phillies add a much needed lefty to their bench, and the Blue Jays will receive a prospect to be named later.
Apparently, the Phillies tried to acquire outfielder Mark Kotsay earlier in the week, but he ultimately ended up with the Boston Red Sox. Stairs is hitting .250 this season, with 11 home runs and 44 RBI.

Phillies Scour Waiver Wire: Land Matt Stairs
FanHouse —
Filed under: Blue Jays, Phillies, AL East, NL East, MLB TransactionsHe's 40 years old, and hasn't hit a home run in a month. But in the NL East, where the margin between first and second is razor thin, Matt Stairs qualifies as an upgrade. And it's the Philadelphia Phillies that have snagged him for the stretch drive, acquiring him from the Blue Jays for an unidentified minor leaguer. Stairs is what he is ... a .250 hitter who also happens to be a career .250 hitter in the month of September. He'll most likely play some outfield in place of the disabled Geoff Jenkins, but I'd be willing to bet that most of Stairs' appearances ...

If you ask me, this is just what we need; a lefty who bats .250 and strikes out twice as much as he walks. Was Russell Branyan unavailable?

Morning Roundup (Kershaw, Snider, Olivo & more)
Rotoprofessor —
... According to Ken Rosenthal of foxsports.com (click here for the article) the Blue Jays have traded Matt Stairs to the Phillies in exchange for a minor leaguer. Stairs will probably just provide help off the bench, giving him very little fantasy value. The bigger news is that the Blue Jays recalled Travis Snider to take Stairs’ place on the roster. I’ll give me full thoughts on Snider later today, but he is a top talent and is not being called up to sit on the bench. ...
